Berkeley’s ‘Effort to Right Wrongs of the Past’ Ends Single Family Homes

I dont like the term "virtue signaling" because that is open to the interpretation that it is frivolous and not dangerous. We are looking at a Revolution that is determined to dissolve America as it has always been and fully recreate it, and they dont give a flying fuck what you or I think, they dont believe in consent at all these Victim Culture Cult Fucks who abuse is constantly.

This is almost more out there then anything I’ve seen a liberal write. Allowing new development means the revolution is taking over? You and the democratic socialists in the Bay Area would get along real well.

When you don’t build enough housing over a 40 year period (because supply and demand somehow doesn’t apply to housing in the mind of democratic socialists) there’s no single act that will reverse it overnight and make housing more affordable.

Berkeley is notoriously anti-development. So allowing new market rate housing is a good thing. And yes, allowing more development with higher density around public transportation (such as BART) is a good thing

Berkeley is notoriously one of the most leftist places in America, which became a real problem after the left largely abandoned liberalism for the backwards thinking of the Regressive Left which was birthed at our failed "elite universities", and then went so far as to become intellectual terrorists.

It's good for some of the rich, if it happens, and only some of the rich.

The poor are ever more screwed.

Never thought I would see people on the right agreeing with democratic socialists but I guess housing is unique. Poor people are screwed if more housing is built? How does that work?

I know all about Berkeley. Lived here over 35 years. This issue is bigger than Berkeley. It’s about housing and affordability and how cities, counties and the state address it.

The Left has become deeply authoritarian and thus are my enemy.

I am a self proclaimed progressive in the mold of Bret and Heather and also Paglia, I claim to be a socialist in fact, I supported Trump only because he is on the side of the Little People in the ongoing class war, a war that the Little People are losing and losing badly, mostly because Americans tend to be ignorant cowards now.

I don't know who those two groups allegedly are, but both parties serve the rich & the rich only. Yes. Educate yourself (maybe start by reading this thread?) & embrace logic; smaller & still wildly unaffordable housing units push the poor/mc out via renovation, and lock them out with insanely high price tags.

It's simply a reset to lower expectations & raise prices for the few who can afford to live in the area.

Nothing good will come of any of this - if it happens - unless you are one of the select rich few.

People such as yourself and the other democratic socialists are a big contributor to the increase in my property values here with your anti-development mindset and policies. So maybe I should thank you and say please keep it up?

My issue is the Authoritarianism, the removal of freedoms, all of the lying, all of the refusal to consider the evidence, all of the refusal to reason...the process is broken and must be reformed before America can move forward......the Elites have both failed basic competence and have become abusive imposing their will upon the rest by whatever means are necessary.

R U that Berkley guy I knew at Able2Know.Org?

What do you think happens when the population increases but no housing is built? Because that’s essentially what we have now and the pricing reflects it.

Would you prefer the gov’t build and own all housing like in Cuba or the old Soviet Union to eliminate the profit motive? “Housing is a right”

Ok. How should housing be done in America?

You keep assuming that I am against more density and quality transit...I am most certainly not....I am against abuse of the citizens at the hands of the Failed Elite Class.

Irrelevant; the area remains wildly desirable with or without more/smaller units. Ditto.

Would you? It is, yes.

If this idiocy happens, it will simply reset/lower the expectation baseline for the rich who can afford housing in the area.

What a 2 br goes for now is what a 1 br will go for later - that's it, and that's all this is about beyond empty virtue signaling.

If I’m understanding you correctly your argument is nothing can be done about the cost of housing so therefore don’t even attempt to address it. To each his own of course but not a mindset I understand or agree with.

And to turn this into national politics, the high cost of housing in Cali is forcing more blue voters into red states and we saw those results last election. Republicans should want the state to address its housing crisis.

Nothing has been done because those in charge like values going up because every dollar values goes up means more money coming in to be spread around.

That has not changed either.

So why are you now complaining about something being done about it?

That's YOUR ridiculous/irrelevant straw man argument, and not the topic. Irrelevant fallacy proceeding from irrelevant fallacy...

Irrelevant, but yes, and also the result of widespread Democrat criminality/voter fraud/voter suppression in those states. Tell it to a Republican.

The DEMOCRAT Party says that "housing is a right", as it happens.
