Can a "moderate, conservative, democrat please explain to me how this is extreme or even socialism?

"Despite the incredible wealth of its owner, Walmart pays many of its employees starvation wages, wages that are so low that many of these employees are forced to rely on government programs like food stamps, Medicaid and public housing in order to survive," Sanders said. "Further, Walmart should give a voice to its workers by allowing them seats on the board of directors. The concerns of workers, not just stockholders should be a part of board decisions."

Well the intent certainly isn't, nor the goal, and the demand that the "concerns" should be part of the company's interest isn't either, but, some will read it as if Bernie is demanding the workers be given more power, that the Gov't should entangle itself into the operations of a private company

There is no need for Walmart to pay a living wage, since they know the government and the taxpayers will make up the difference.

Nothing here is extreme, but he's basically saying we should raise the minimum wage, which isn't a good idea because that would lead to higher unemployment. A much better way to reduce inequality is to have universal healthcare and UBI.

Stocking shelves is not the job deserving a living wage for a family. It's an entry-level job for people without children, or as a second income for a family with children (i.e. a married couple).

If Walmart give all their employs a quote "living wage", Walmart would be headed out of business and those people getting a living wage would be out of a job with no wage.

Walmart is one of the richest companies in America, stop trying to defend them. By doing so, you are encouraging our government to make up the difference with your tax dollars

Then they get no tax breaks of any kind or bail outs.

Dismissed!!!!!.....the racist right has been spewing this lie for decades

Besides, I asked for moderate dems, you are just as right winged as they come and you're post proves it.

Well in this particular case, they're right. When the minimum wage goes up, people get laid off or get their hours cut. I'm not against redistributing wealth, I just think there are much better ways to do it, such as universal healthcare and UBI.

Besides, I asked for moderate dems, you are just as right winged as they come and you're post proves it.

I believe in universal healthcare, UBI, banning meat and dairy, full LGBT rights, ending gender roles, and taxing religious institutions into oblivion.
But, sure, I'm right-wing.
Though you are right that I'm not a moderate Democrat.

When I lived in Toledo ,it was actually the other way around,Wal-Mart went out of their way to hire
Women with kids already on Medicaid.
Gave them just enough hours so they still qualified for Medicaid.

This claim is an abominable lie. It has been dispelled every time some idiot from the Party of the Jackass bloviates it. Yet, there are still willful idiots around who parrot it.

There you go with that lame dumb meaningless talking point; "living wage." So what is preventing Wallmart workers from learning a skilled trade or getting a college degree so they can make more?

Who is forcing anyone in this country to work for less than they think their skills are worth?

Universal healthcare run by faceless bureaucrats is even more moronic than arbitrary minimum wage laws. Universal healthcare run by faceless bureaucrats does not reduce inequality. It increases by forcing those who cannot afford to opt out of their shitty plans while the wealthy can.

I wish you were educated; really I do. ;)

 Someone who gets it.

There you go again with that painfully FALSE, stupid and refuted claim again.
