Bias against Mormon presidential candidate unchanged since 1967, poll finds

It shouldn't matter at all what religion a presidential candidate is.

Until that candidate starts combining his campaign and policies with his religion.

Then there's a problem and in Romney's case, it's a big problem.

There is nothing sacrosanct about religion .. any of them.

Intelligent people SHOULD question how much religion a candidate will inject into the lives of people who live in the real world.

No, it does not. Cults are LOCALIZED religious movements. If Mormons are an INTERNATIONAL religious movement, they cannot, by definition, be a cult.

What about the Moonies? One of *my* own definitions of a cult is a group that has a living leader/controller who thinks he's divine, or else thinks he alone has the keys to the afterlife (i.e. God's right-hand man). Think David Koresh, Rev. Moon or Rev. Jim Jones. I'm not saying this is the correct or dictionary definition of the word, just my observation. Which is why I asked you about the Moonies, as they are an international religious movement.

My understanding of the rods is a sect that still holds the same tenets as a denomination, but breaks off from the original orgnization.

A cult is a group who the denonimination believes has created a heresy or has strayed from the original teachings of the denomination.

It is why Evangelicals consider the Jehovah Witnesses, the Moonies and the LDS as "cults"
