The reason it cost him the election is that he shrank from his first crisis. Americans saw that he can't be trusted to lead when things aren't perfect.

I do not think a reasoned discussion can be had with an American conservative. American conservatism has become an ideology searching for a reason for existing. As I see it, the American conservative value system mostly involves considering anyone who is not totally dedicated to American conservatism to be a "liberal"...and to hate and despise anything and everything proposed by any liberal or progressive. I think American conservatism will be viewed by future historians the way the Church during the Dark Ages is viewed by many of today's historians.

Mitch McConnell said it best when he started the Barak Obama first term vowing to make the former president a one-termer, by opposing everything he suggested.

Nah, COVID was going to be any Presidents worst moment if for no other reason *they were doomed* be saddled with a tanked economy at the end of their term. The opposing party was going to do everything they could to spin it for political benefit [of course, republicans would do that lol].

This is all goes back to the beginning when the virus arrived here no later than early December when congress was doing...what? Can’t seem to remember. Oh yeah, engaging in pointless impeachment proceedings.

So the virus was here and circulating in our population in December. Our first diagnosed case was in late January. I think by now, most of us are good enough armchair virologists to know that 6 weeks is a hell of a lot of time for COVID to do some mischief.

Right? How far can COVID travel in 6 weeks—while flying under the radar? It’s a safe bet that by late January COVID was in the majority of states and being mis-diagnosed or undiagnosed. So who could have convinced the country to lockdown in late January?

Trump lol? Fauci? See where this is going? It would not have mattered who sat in the Oval Office. The course was set because after that it’s a natural phenomenon and the best any government was going to do was nibble around the edges of the case numbers.

The case numbers are growing across the globe now *not because of anything the respective governments have done or failed to do* but because the virus apparently favors cooler weather. Case numbers growing here are no more ‘Trump’s fault’ than it’s Trump’s fault they are growing in France.

It’s the virus being the virus. The virus is virusing. Blame it on Trump all you want, just don’t expect the virus to cooperate with the narrative when it lands in Biden’s lap. Because it’s going to unless there’s a vaccine or we get to herd immunity.

Hopefully, the Operation Warp Speed facilitated vaccine really is 90% effective.

Fortunately, most Americans saw that Trump was an abysmal leader during his 1st real crisis.

It's really impossible to look at this year objectively and conclude that Trump handled it well. For the most part, he tried to ignore it. He's on tape admitting that his main strategy was downplaying it.

Heck of a try, though.
