I agree, Concart, that if we lose democracy, we lose everything. Nothing else really matters.
As you suggested, we MAY have actually lost everything. Trump did that much damage...and the Dems have not been able to stem the tide.
I respectfully suggest, however, that "the filibuster" almost certainly is a greater friend to the left...than to the right. When the Republicans take control of the Senate, they will further erode the filibuster. It hurts them more than it hurts their opponents.
What has to be fixed is the way the composition of the Senate is determined...not the filibuster. The state of Wyoming, for instance, has less than 600,000 people...and has two Senators representing them in that senior, very powerful legislative body. The state of California has almost 40,000,000 people...and those 40,000,000 people are represented by the same number of senators. If there were fair representation...California would be represented by 66 Senators, not 2!
That is what has to be corrected, not the filibuster.
