Biden shovels more millions into Ukrainian money-pit, while Americans go hungry.

Disagreed. Killing Russian rapists and murderers is as good as killing Jihadist rapists and murderers.

Translation: Anyone who disagrees with me is a troll.

Sorry, Ms. Moon, but I disagree. Killing war criminals and terrorists is a service to humanity.

Trump is a traitor and, although I doubt he'll ever pay for his sins, I'll be happy to hear he is D-E-A-D.

You are free to lie about me, call me a troll for speaking my mind, but I doubt I'm the only one who disagrees with you and all other Jihadist and Russian supporters.

There are 11 million unfilled jobs in the U. S. If somebody is hungry that would be a good place to start.

Outstanding. Not to mention anyone can contribute to food banks, give to charities, etc. Being a good neighbor does not require Congresses money or permission.

Are people qualified to work in those jobs and are they in their area? A single mother of two working at a restaurant may still need assistance.

Agreed, but like real estate's "location, location, location" the problem isn't jobs per se but geography.

Example: How's a dumbass living in Brooklyn going to get a job at a Walmart in Abilene, Texas?

It takes money to move, get set up and work until the paychecks come in. It's a problem.

IMO, a failure of leadership by the US government and a failure of our nation as a whole that we don't have the world's greatest education system for all Americans, not just the ones living in rich counties.

I'm against giving away money as some suggest with "repatriation" but maximizing the abilities of all American kids is a win-win no matter what happens.

We, the People are responsible for failing to provide the will to make better education for all to happen just as surely as the Russian people are responsible for failing to control Putin.

Re "area", like food and global starvation, the problem is mainly geographical in nature as noted above.

After 9/11, the airlines shut down several of their hubs, including some that were purely maintenance hubs. All were unionized and replacement jobs were offered to all in other hubs in order of seniority. Many preferred to take their severance and remain local rather than move to another city 5-20 hours away by car.

While I fully agree that family is important, I start to lose sympathy for someone who passes on a career advancement because they prefer to stay closer to home AND then whine about the unfairness of life.

Quality of life is more important than money. Money is necessary up to a point for QoL, but after that, it becomes a luxury. After 9/11, I read an article about the high number of yuppies, guppies, whatever who were passing on promotions and even taking demotions to be in a more rural/suburban, family friendly environment. Spending more time with the kids on weekends rather than having to go into work on a Saturday for the same weekly pay.

If families could get in covered wagons and cross the U. S. in the 1800s or black families could leave the South and go north in the 1920s-1930s, certainly somebody from Brooklyn can get to Texas; although, I'm sure there are jobs available in Brooklyn. ZipRecruiter says it has 384,779 jobs in Brooklyn.

I guess you haven't seen "1883". LOL

Even the survivors of such travels had to have money to travel...or go into indentured servatude. LOL

A more civilized version is a work contract. A poor family can sell themselves to the US government for, say, 5 years at $30Kish/year in exchange for a work contract at a specified location. Like the military, they could choose from a list of current destinations or wait until something closer to their liking came up. Ain addition to the pay, housing and a food subsidy would be available at cost. Failure to work the contract would be treated the same as failure to pay for a student college loan.

Thoughts?

The National Job Corps already provides many of those features. It provides free job training, furnished room with meals, clothing, living allowance, child care allotment, medical care, books and supplies at 123 locations throughout the U. S.

The last time I read about the program most of the programs did not have full classes.

Anybody with any sense. Russia is the largest country in the world and very heavily nuclear-armed. Ignore it at your peril- as NATO has now discovered.
we could make them give up Ukraine and give them Quebec instead.......nobody gives a fuck about Quebec.......

and we both know she gets it........the people who got cut were single people earning enough money to buy their own food......

Probably don’t know about it. I sure didn’t.

Me neither. That tells me it's not very well supported.

There was a great anti-smoking commercial several years ago that pointed out, IIRC, that tobacco companies will spend $1M on programs to help prevent kids from smoking then they'll spend $10M telling everyone about it. LOL

Don't know. Lack of interest?

That is true of many governmental programs I have been involved with. They have less students than they need to make the program work and often result in cutting corners and stretching the truth to have the required completion rate. One program trained welders who often went to work at local shipbuilding companies. We included those who became janitors at those shipbuilding companies as successful job placement for the graduates.

Doubtful.
