I agree and you are misreading my posts. Socialism is government control of major industries. Food stamps and Social Security are part of our social welfare system and are virtually the same because we collect the money if we are eligible. Part of your taxes pay for food stamps and (like insurance) you can collect if needed. I don't call either one of these socialist. But one is not socialism any more than the other simply because you pay separately instead of as part of your income taxes. Communism is a political system but requires a socialist economic system.

Communism is one step along the road to Socialism wherein the government owns the means of production. This is a simple way to express a grand idea. Socialism according to Marx is a philosophy and has nothing to do with taxes. It is a utopian idiocy. What folks call socialism today is not what Marx spoke about at all. Getting something from taxes is not socialism, you can only tax that which others make and in a Socialist economic system folks do not pay taxes they are simply paid for work by the government which owns the means of production. What you are calling "socialism" is a different economic system which some folks nowadays call "Democratic Socialism", simplifying it down to Socialism doesn't make Social Security "socialism" though.
