They're trying to salvage their reputations. Pence wants to be a relevant politician. Barr wants to get respect. Sorry, they blew that. They followed orders of a criminal in the Whitehouse until they decided it was possible to pivot.
 
It's really ironic for Barr to say this, considering the fact that Barr did Trump's scummy bidding when he was AG.

Both of these POS realized too late the results of Dump's fascist leaning "leadership" and what that truly would entail, so they tried to save face and get on the right side of history. They used the Constitution for their own ends....could previously care less about it.
