Bill Barr says he’s willing to testify against Trump at Jan. 6 trial

Then he would have to show how Trump pressured them, what threats he made against them.

Simply asking them is not pressuring.

When your boss asks you do do something that is not a request. He can fire you for refusal.

Then, the top DOJ lawyers threatened to resign after Trump wanted to replace Rosen with Clark. That is seen as a plan to use the DOJ to carry out White House wishes.

Note how many of Trump's Traitors claimed in court that they were only doing as their president ordered them to do. Notice too that no judge bought that defense. :rofl2:

Man who blamed Trump’s ‘orders’ for attending the Capitol insurrection found guilty
An Ohio man who claimed he was only “following presidential orders” from Donald Trump when he stormed the U.S. Capitol was quickly convicted Thursday of obstructing Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral victory.

Taking less than three hours, a federal jury also found Dustin Byron Thompson, 38, guilty of five other offenses including stealing a coat rack from an office inside the Capitol during the riot on Jan. 6 of last year. The maximum sentence for the obstruction count, the lone felony, is 20 years imprisonment.

Jurors rejected Thompson’s novel defense, in which he blamed Trump and members of the president’s inner circle for the insurrection and for his own actions.

The judge didn’t buy that defense either, though he cast his own blame in Trump’s direction after the verdict was announced.

Accused January 6 rioter tells CNN he only stormed the Capitol because Trump told him to go
  • Accused Capitol rioter Anthony Antonio says he only stormed the grounds because Trump said to go.
  • Antonio faces charges connected to the Capitol insurrection.
  • Speaking to CNN on Friday, he said: "If [Trump] didn't say 'go down to the Capitol,' I wouldn't have gone down to the Capitol."

"He called people to Washington, DC that day. He said march down to the Capitol. I personally would not have marched down Pennsylvania Avenue and walked to the Capitol, on the grass of the Capitol," he said. "I told you were I was supposed to go. I was supposed to go to Freedom Plaza, that was my plan ... if [Trump] didn't say 'go down to the Capitol,' I wouldn't have gone down to the Capitol."

It is always a request, what are you talking about.

Anyone can deny to do something.

Smith would have to prove that Trump threatened him with losing his job.

Remember that this is a criminal case in a court of law.

Innuendo doesn't cut it.

I don't see any flaws--just difficult to prove charges. It is difficult to prove things like inciting a riot, threats, etc. I think it is based on all the activities taken together demonstrate a conspiracy.

I don't think there is any doubt he was seeking to block the election results to prevent Biden from taking office, but proving he committed specific crimes is more difficult.

You pretty much nailed it there flash.

Most do not consider a request by their boss to be a choice. There is a lot of law to support that concept and I don't think Smith has to prove Barr was threatened with losing his job to prove that; especially when the same pressure was put on Rosen and the DOJ attorneys threatened to quit because Clark was known to be a supporter of Trump's claims.

When you team this up with all the plots in different states (elector imposters, GA phone call, Pence) they will try to prove a conspiracy to block the election.

What people consider is not relevant in court.

Smith would have to prove that Trump actually threatened him with losing his job.

Not to show there was an overall plot to block the election. If I am pressuring you to find election fraud when you have already said there was none and that angered your boss that is seeking to use the DOJ for political purposes to block the election.

The fact that Trump Tweeted Barr was resigning shows he did not have a real choice.

Barr is trying to salvage his reputation. He will tell what Trump said and did. He is not the only Trumplestilskin who will spill the beans.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr said he is willing to testify against former President Trump at his Jan. 6 trial.

Barr, who was appointed by Trump, responded “of course” when asked on CBS’s “Face the Nation” if he would be willing to appear as a witness in Trump’s trial over federal charges related to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election. He declined to answer whether he was interviewed by the special counsel in connection to the federal investigation.

Barr has been a staunch critic of the former president since he resigned from his post shortly after the 2020 election. He noted that the case brought by special counsel Jack Smith was a “challenging” one, but that he does not think it “runs afoul of the First Amendment.”

When asked about his interactions with Trump and how he told the former president there was no evidence of election fraud, Barr said that his investigations into the fraud “satisfied” the conclusions.
