On Friday's episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher," host Bill Maher argued that to get back to what he called "old America," Democrats must scale back their more radically progressive ideology.

"If we are ever going to get back to the old America, that's got to be the Democrats' part of the bargain. Stop coming up with radically new and often terrible ideas and then, in the next breath, insist there be no debate about any of it," Maher said.

The "Real Time" host began the segment by criticizing some Democrats' support for men competing in women's sports, adding that there's "a lot of stuff like that on the left."

I don't know that I'd describe him as liking to "play both sides" as much as that he actually believes (as do I) that the truth and the best solutions to the issues we face, lie somewhere near the center rather than out at the extreme ends.

Cooperation and compromise are not new concepts. People have known about them for centuries.

We need more and louder voices in the media spreading the word that compromise with the other side is not surrender.

We have to learn to coexist.

There are Democrats/liberals here who are unable to post anything other than MAGAt, MAGAt, MAGAt, Trump, Trump, Trump. They literally cannot talk about their own party. It's as if an AI programmer in SF wired them this way.

This all started when Maher and Trump reportedly put in writing that if the "Celebrity Apprentice" star can present a valid birth certificate to prove that he's not the product of his mother having sex with an orangutan, then Maher would write a check for $5 million to the charity of Trump's choice.

And, well, since Trump doesn't joke around and there's money involved, he did provide valid paperwork to show that he's all human (sigh), but Maher never forked over the $5 million.
