Again I am not arguing whether it is or isn't as harmful as alcohol. I am saying the data arguing its medicinal purposes is dubious at best. Medical marijuana is a hoax. It is a ruse used by its adherents to push for legalization making it seem more "mainstream" and innocuous.

You are arguing against points I have not made. I will say again, I have not made a decision regarding legalization of marijuana one way or te other except that the Feds should not be involved. I guess I am a moderate in the issue

The 'hoax' is the belief that only a doctor can tell people what makes them feel better.

If someone has anger management issues and they go see a doctor about it .. the doctor will most likely prescribe that person medication that is far more dangerous than smoking marijuana .. and likely more costly.

If that person can control his mood with marijuana .. as many do .. then the hoax is a doctor prescribing something more harmful and expensive than something that person actually enjoys doing.

I have no doubt that if marijuana were legal, some doctors would prescribe, 'some a joint and chill out.'

You have authorized your government to make those decisions on your behalf. That is why you folks like the FDA. You can't pick and choose your socialism.

And for that remark, I am sorry you didn't recognize the sarcasm. Although one could make that same argument that groin improves their mood. Right? So should we legalize heroin on those grounds and call it medical?

Heroin is dangerous .. marijuana isn't .. and you're making the same false argument you claimed that you weren't.
 
Personally, I don't see it as a civil rights issue. However, I think drugs should be legalized, but that we should educate people not to use the harder ones. But if people want to f*** up their bodies by doing acid or meth, who am I to tell them they can't?

Of course - if they drive under the influence, steal, or pollute the environment with a meth lab, or grow pot on federal lands- throw the book at them. They are responsible for what they do to get drugs or while using them.

But if my neighbor does drugs and it doesn't impact me or society, why is it my business?

For now, of course pot is the main one we're talking about legalizing. And we should.

And we need to use hemp in a lot more products!

But really - if they aren't bothering anyone else, I don't care what drugs people use.
