Why not use the plane for travel? That is, after all, what it's designed to do.
There really are better ways to generate electrical power.

Or.. just remove the APU from the plane... you'd need a fuel source and those things are kind of loud.. but technically you don't need the whole plane.. just the APU/generator.

Have you ever been inside a power plant? They're kinda loud. :D
Power plants can produce hundreds of MW of power. Why mess with an APU? It only produces a few hundred KW of power.
The Snoqualmie Falls power plant produces 119MW of power. And it's a small one.

A natural gas power plant is turbine powered, like a very large APU. These easily produce some 300MW of power.

Aircraft APUs produce current at approx 400Hz, unlike a power plant, which produces current at 60Hz and is synchronized to the rest of the grid.

It is interesting that China recently played with energy scarcity to "Save the Planet", one taste and they were all "Fuck this, we are not doing this" and ordered coal production increases.

I pretty much take the view that those who slit their own throats to "Save the Planet" after as much as we have been lied to deserve what we get.

Stupid is supposed to hurt.

While America's power grid has been showing signs of distress for years, the sudden warnings have surprised even those who were sounding an alarm. That's because extreme weather precipitated by climate change and the early retirement of fossil fuel plants has accelerated the destabilization of the grid - a fragile collection of transfer stations and transmission lines already challenged by a lack of investment.

The situation has unnerved energy experts, who caution an unstable grid could set back plans to move rapidly toward a climate-friendlier economy. The plans rely heavily on most of the nation shifting to electric vehicles and plug-in home appliances such as stoves and hot water heaters, which will increase demands on the power system.

Notice how the first interest of the WP is concern about their "Save the Planet" agenda, not how Americans are being hurt by this failing system, which has been massively underfunded and mismanaged for decades.
