Blaming this USA plant's closing on Trump's tariffs is a lie.

I looked up several sites, not lefty, like Bloomberg and fortune who all said the tariffs were killing the company and 129 jobs.

Shallon Margot and Nordberg, I'm among the proponents of Import Certificates, which is superior to tariffs, pure free trade, or any other trade policy I'm aware of.
Refer to Wikipedia's “Import Certificates” article.

Import certificate policy respects the concept of “most favored nation”. Nations which l participate within mutual “most favored nations” agreements cannot treat each others' products in a less favorable manner than they treat any other foreign nations' products. I'm among the proponents of USA participating in mutual “most foreign nation“ agreements.

I'm particularly opposed to the manner of Trump's tariffs upon steel and aluminum.

President Trump's Tariffs: … It's not logical to “protect” USA steel mills but leave their USA customers at disadvantage to imports using cheaper foreign steel, and USA's trade laws should not pass judgment of other nation's wage scales.
When USA customers for USA steel are crowded out of the markets, where's the market for USA steel produced by higher earning USA labor? Additionally, because tariffs, unlike Import Certificates would only be applicable to steel and aluminum, those USA products will continue to be crowded out by any goods or service products that could serve as an alternative to products made with steel or aluminum. ...

additionally, if Trumps tariffs are applicable only to China or to China and a few other nations, it is reasonable to expect USA products within and beyond USA's borders will contine to be underpriced, and Element Electronic's paying tariffs for their foreign components will be priced out of all markets.

The link I provided, (refer to: https://www.newsday.com/business/ele...ffs-1.20345862 and https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ffs/927203002/ ), made no mention of the tariffs being applicable to only some selected nation. My original post was based upon the assumption that the newspapers would not fail to report such vital information. If my assumption is incorrect, it's a case of fake-news and/or incompetent newspaper editors.

Nordberg, no; Element Electronics stated reason for closing is apparently a lie.

Trump's tariffs improve rather harms their competitive position. Their stated hope is that the closing is temporary. They may have prior to Trump's announced tariffs, determined to close their factory, but the tariff's better enable them to continue producing TV's. Their closing at this time is a blatant attempt to extort additional concessions from our federal government.

Respectfully, Supposn

The upshot of trumps tariffs will be job loss...econ 101
