"Boom: Trump eyes 10% spending cuts, 20% slash of federal workers

Making good on a promise to slash government, President-elect Trump has asked his incoming team to pursue spending and staffing cuts.
Insiders said that the spending reductions in some departments could go as high as 10 percent and staff cuts to 20 percent, numbers that would rock Washington if he follows through.

At least two so-called "landing teams" in Cabinet agencies have relayed the call for cuts as part of their marching orders to shrink the flab in government.

The cuts would target discretionary spending, not mandated programs such as Medicare or Social Security, the sources said..."

This must be what the Statists, (most Liberal/Progressive/Marxist/Fascists are Statists), are all freaked out about.

Remember the budget arguments under Soetoro....when they had to furlough all non-essential workers in DC and keep the number of tax payer employed workers that were actually required to run the agency like the Dept. of Ed....etc.? They furloughed up to 90% of the civil servant workers in DC and things seems to run better. That demonstrates just how much pork and cronyism exists in DC. I say cut them to the bare bones and let them see what its like to live on unemployment like the rest of the nation.

I hope the Dumpster really keeps his word on this. That would be a huge shock to the system in the right way.
It would be painful but it's needed and badly. It'll be great if he does it. If I were king I'd raise taxes on the rich, poor and everybody in between and make budget cuts to really shock the system until we got to zero deficit.

You don't wanna raise taxes in this particular economy, IMHO; cutting spending, though, is a great idea.

that is a decent start. the number of useless us gov. "positions" should be reduced more like 80%. I reckon 90% of all us gov. "positions" are non essential and unlawful.

Cutting that many federal workers would be disasterous for Republicans in 2018 election.

I thought he was going to increase jobs?

grabbing popcorn and a beer, this is getting good!

you have exposed a real problem with the grossly bloated us gov. employment numbers: the infinite conflict of interest. damnedocrats want as many fed gov jobs as possible because they are state owned slaves and a guaranteed damnedocrat vote. us gov. employees votes are illegitimate votes because of the conflict of interest. a vote for damnedocrats is a vote for ever expanding numbers of us gov employees and ever widening inequality of pay compared to the fair market value of the useless tasks they perform. us gov. employees are workers of inequity. they might be fine folk, but, as us gov. employees they are political pawns and contrary to freedom and the american way of life.

You could be correct, after all: there are lots of Liberal/Progressive/Marxist termites who now have serious TARD, and would even more stressed out to see the growth of Statism began to be reversed. Me thinks it is a religious thing with bat shit crazy moon bats.

Jobs in the public sector do nothing butt: put us deeper in debt, and suck resources from the productive private sector, and hurts productivity with all the nanny gubment rules and regs.

The private sector is where ya want job growth, (if ya want what is good for this country): Icy Queen.

Probably not. That's how I lived when in debt. Suffer til it's over with. I know it pays off in the long run but most people wouldn't go for it.

The people who need to experience it don't suffer, EVER! It's your cousin Robbie, your best friend, Mike, and Mike's wife who is 6 months pregnant.

It always aims high but never misses the middle.
