Most man-pads are only good up to about 13,000'. The Hermes can fly at 30,000 ft which is probably where it was by the time it reached Iran. Iran would have to use a lot bigger missile to down such a target.

FWIW, it was a reconnaissance drone. Israel certainly has more in the air to identify targets and assess damage.

The Iranian air defense system and its equipment is badly dated and mostly based on Soviet / Russian technology. The Iranians have tried to update some of that but even if you update the missiles, most of the guidance systems are still basically the same. A good place to see these system's effectiveness is their use by both the Syrians and Russians in Syria. Versus the Israeli, and US air forces, they have a pretty spotty record of success. The Iranian air defense personnel, like their Syrian counterparts, get little live fire training and most of the training they do get is by rote. That's how an airliner was shot down a few years ago taking off from Tehran's airport.

Against the Israelis and US, Iran's air defense systems are marginal at best and unlikely to produce many shootdowns.
