Breaking News: Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez facing indictment on bribery charges

I agree, he needs to resign now, he is also running for re-election in 2024 go figure?!! If he does the right thing and resigns now, New Jersey has a democratic governor who could appoint another democrat as senator?!!

He’s a scumbag

He will do what’s best for him in his mind

The nation doesn’t matter

They are only showing pictures of two gold bars so far. The news conference starts in about a minute.

BUT THOMAS!!!

I think this is a problem politicians create, when they continue to break Laws after not being prosecuted.

This is something Republicans and Democrats should agree on.

The only way to stop corruption is through Justice Department Convictions where people go to prison.

Hung juries are a huge problem. Our legal system is not perfect, but it's still the best in the world.

I will be watching this one, as I am not so sure Menedez is innocent, or was even innocent the last time he was accused of accepting bribes.

If Menedez can be proven in court to be a scoundrel, he will be impeached- And the Democrats will be the first ones in line to do it- Trust me.

No one wants a scoundrel- MOST EXCEPTIONALLY THE DEMOCRATS.

The evidence is damning. The money was in envelopes in Menendez coat pockets and had the DNA and fingerprints of the briber. I doubt he will resign because he needs to make as much money as possible before he goes to prison.

Yeap

Just as damning as the J/6 crime evidence and the charges against trump and team

These scum are all fucked and going to prison

You only slander the DOJ when they catch the Republican criminals huh

This is stunning he was acquitted the first time in 2017 and this indictment covers acts in 2018. He is ballsy I give him that.

I’m not sure, but it’s probably a special election.

Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez facing indictment on bribery charges

Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez is being charged with bribery offenses in a federal indictment out of the Southern District of New York to be unsealed Friday, prosecutors announced.

"A press event will be held today at 11:00 a.m. to announce the unsealing of an indictment charging Robert Menendez, U.S. Senator from New Jersey, and his wife, Nadine Menendez, with bribery offenses in connection with their corrupt relationship with three New Jersey businessmen," the U.S. attorney's office posted on X.

NBC News 4 reported Monday that the FBI and IRS criminal investigators are attempting to determine if Menendez or his wife had taken up to $400,000 worth of gold bars from Fred Daibes, a New Jersey developer and former bank chairman, or his associates in a swap for Menendez reaching out to the Justice Department to aid the "admitted felon" accused of banking crimes.

Maybe he should have had his kids launder the money through some LLC's...

Bad actors will continue to corrupt as long as they get by with it!

And as I said, hung juries can be a problem. That is why districts become so important as to where these cases are tried sometimes.

And as long as prosecutors can choose the district they want their case to be tried in, presents certain problems as well.

Not sayin' this was the case in the previous Menedez trial, but I am just speaking in general terms.

I wish I had a better answer- just stating the facts of reality.
