That's where you were mistaken. The nobel prize is not meant to be given to "good" people. Its meant to be given to people who advance the cause of peace and human rights.
Neither Begin or Arafat were wonderful people. They both had blood on their hands. But, together - at the time in 1994 - they both made relatively courageous political moves towards reconcilliation and peace building.
Nelson Mandela I think shared his prize with that DeClerk guy - the fomer apartheid-loving PM of south africa. But, DeClerk finally did the moral, decent, and humane thing: he joined hands with Mandela to bring justice to south africa. That doesn't make DeClerk a saint. Nor, does it excuse his former apartheid-loving ways. The prize was a recognition of the personal and political courage it took him to join hands with Mandela.
