Trump won't lower tariffs until the Chinese do.

...and they did! The Chinese effectively lost the trade war. Now Trump is going to give 'em a 30 day lowering of tariffs, to see what happens.

Of course, it's not fully signed and sealed, but this is the essence of the deal that was made.

The trade war with the US is especially worrying for China, since they now see that there is a significant part of the US population that is willing to suffer a potential recession if this one affects China more than the US. They did not expect that to happen.
