You need to read these articles before drawing a conclusion. As for the rest, possibly Scotland could have held out for a while but Ireland and Wales would have fell within days. By the way, the exercise at Sandhurst in 1974 had some of the German planners of the Operation Sealion there to ensure authenticity and accuracy.

I know, I was poking fun at the hardiness of your colonials as opposed to the actual Brits.

No. There was never a good sound military reason to split your army into two fronts,

Napoleon's Italian campaign.

Rarely should hard and fast rules be made in war. In one situation a strategy might work, in another it might fail.

If you include Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, then yes, it would takes perhaps even centuries. But jolly ole England? That pacification would make the French laugh

We haven't been conquered for a thousand years. We conquered Ireland, Scotland and Wales. And then the rest of the world.

Remember who brought you the modern world. Remember America is a child of the English Empire.

Yes, those un-hardy people who conquered all their neighbours, took on the world's greatest powers and won (Spain in the C16th, Napoleonic France in the C19th, Germany in the C20th), conquered the largest ever Empire and gave the world industrialisation.

Remember that so far, the US hasn't even gone head to head in a knock out war against either of its major competitors (Russia, China).

And remember that the one time you 'colonials' went to war without us (Vietnam) you lost!

Ahem.

I blame the French. If we weren't saving the Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys yet again we wouldn't have been there.

Yet if it weren't for French the USA would unlikely have won its independence.
If it weren't for some mercenaries that happened to be from France you mean. They left France because they were tired of the military drills. "Okay, when I say throw up your hands you shout, 'Yes, sir!'"
