Britian's welfare system is in crisis

It's a fact that- in the UK- you can get your medical treatment for free. Corporate America is apoplectic that there is no profit in helping fellow humans.
The devil, as they say, is a North American.

Even if you're a visitor to the UK, as I have often been, your emergency treatment will cost you nothing. Same in Australia. The USA, as we all know and some are proud to say, is morally bankrupt. Has been for years.

The UK is in crisis in general . The days of colonialism are coming back to bite them in the but. Too many citizens of other countries can legally immigrate to the UK and then sponge of the system. In short there are too few worker bees.
It's not colonialism, but rather decades, if not centuries, of officious, bureaucratic, government, and very strong labor union allies, piling up. The last time it came to a head was in the 70's when Thacher came to power as PM. For example, most of British heavy industry was government owned and socialized. It was incredibly inefficient, cumbersome, and made shit products. British Leyland, the government run auto maker (largest in the UK--think their equivalent of GM) and heavily unionized made shitty cars. The labor force went on strike right after Thacher became PM. They thought they had all the power to force her to accede to their demands. She closed the factories, fired everybody, and put them on welfare at a fraction of their factory wage because it was cheaper than keeping things open. Thacher then sold off the various components to foreign automakers who moved in, crushed the unions, and brought back efficiency and decent quality products. The parts that didn't sell were tossed on the scrap bin.

I think another round of that is coming the minute Labor is tossed out of office this time too. It isn't that there are too few worker bees, but rather, the worker bees and their leadership think they have real power through their unions to force the government to do as they demand. Another round of massive layoffs, sell off of government businesses, and a return to a more capitalist market is on its way, or the UK goes under and becomes another failure like Greece or Italy.

"Free".

It isn't fucking "free." It is just paid for by tax money rather than out of your own pocket.

Who the fuck are "they," some radical Leftist, socialist revolutionaries who never got the memo that Socialism doesn't fucking work?

That's bullshit too. This is stamped in my passport the last time I was in the UK:

Leave to enter for six months employment and recourse to public funds prohibited. Immigration officer (3101) <date> Heathrow (3)

If you enter the UK on a typical visa, as I did, you will get a bill for any medical services rendered unless you have insurance or some other means of payment.

Free. Whereas US saps- such as yourself- are expected to fund their own quadriplegia treatment

How did your lobotomy op go, by the way, my little parrot ?

23 percent of workers in England are in unions. Try and be honest.

That's plain misinformation. You've been duped by the rightwing press.
The ' Socialists' inherited a disabled and financially-starved health system and they are repairing it.
If you were to fall on your empty head in the UK you'd get swift and expert medical treatment for free. That's what you should be demanding here, you corporate dumbass.
Don't believe the florist when he tells you that the roses are free

Yes it all came to a head tn the November and December of 1979 - the infamous "Winter of Discontent". (Shakespeare: "Now is the winter of our discontent."

The whole crisis was saused by 10 years of sicialist Labor governments' insane policy - making.

When the NHS was established in 1948, it spent £134m in its first year, or £3.88bn today.

Today, that would only fund the NHS for one week and 7 hours.

It's paid for by contributions from workers' salaries. They kick in a few bucks per week - and they and their families are then ENTITLED to thousands of bucks worth of FREE medical treatment AND a state pension when they retire. You're simply a mean, corporate asshole- weaned on a pickle.
USA health care sux.
Americans are slaves to blood-sucking billionaires because they want to BE blood-sucking billionaires themselves. It's moral bankruptcy- voluntary moral bankruptcy. Smile- pay up or die.

Roughly 20% of all tax revenue goes to the NHS. It isn't a "few bucks a week," but more like hundreds of pounds a week being consumed in paying for public healthcare that isn't free.

Same goes in the US. Most people pay over $100 a week for coverage, many pay far more.

US healthCARE is some of the best in the world. You keep conflating (mixing up) care with insurance. You somehow think even though everything else the government runs sucks and is grossly inefficient and of relatively poor quality, that the government can do a better job of managing health CARE than private providers can. You are a complete moron if you really think that.

US Healthcare shareholder ^^

The election of a far Leftist Labor party government has sent the UK's welfare system into a tail spin. 3,000+ people a day are now moving out of jobs into permanent disability (called "sickness benefits" there) and unemployment. Part of this is being drive by Labor's war on businesses, owners, and pushing insane regulations that make it not worthwhile to work.

Unemployment figures show that it is low even as millions permanently leave the workforce for often the slightest of medical reasons. About 1 in 12 persons living in Britain are now on disability and that is quickly headed towards 1 in 10 with little sign of slowing down. With the current benefits of permanent disability and other welfare, a Brition can make more than minimum wage, and often more than a fairly good paying job just to sit on their ass and collect a paycheck for life.

Well, they did it to themselves.
