The average prices is a few hundred, which is still to much IMHO but I hear less than 2% of the tickets exceed $1000 much less $3000.

They were originally priced at $50, but the surge prices have pushed them up to $75. That is beyond Springsteen's control. Unfortunately, there is a monopoly when it comes to ticket sales, so artists cannot set minimum prices. If he wants to perform in the large concert venues, he has to charge what Ticketmaster wants. That is not $3,000, but it is $75.
Oprah(it is literally Harpo spelled backwards) gives away her audience tickets, as do almost all live studio audiences. She even has large give aways to those people.
On the downside, if you are in a studio audience, you are a prop. They are not trying to entertain you. If they need to delay production, or halt production, you are expected to sit there and wait.

Let's face it, people want to hear the hits while the old bastard can still manage to grunt out his lyrics. They aren't paying to hear a moron ranting. I really don't care about the price, $20 is too much in my opinion.
