Buddhist congresswoman sworn in with no book, calls for tolerance

The second swearing in with the book, or lucky charm or whatever, happens for photo opts. This is what I find so amusing!
That's what my point has been, it's a silly photo op, it isn't the actual oathtaking... Who really cares? Nobody but some unknown radio guy that is supposedly "one of the most popular" and one Congressman. Amazingly there are weirdos in Congress all the time. I remember that one guy who made a speech about killing cops... Nutjob.

Incorrect.

The wingnut media and the rightwing cyber nut-o-sphere are abuzz with accusations of treason, etc, by Keith Ellison.

Frontpage Mag, Free Republic, Townhall, etc.

And wingnutters on this board like Gaffer, BB, and Dixie are either suggesting Ellison is a traitor, or are Defending Virgil Goode. So, obviously this isn't a non-issue to be debated.

Attempting to create a larger "issue" from the "wingnuts" is a silly attempt to marginalize all of the right-wing by associating these with all of them...

It is just as silly to say that these people hold real strength and responsibility with all of the right-wing as it is to say that this guy is a traitor because of what book he uses in a photo-op...

You can continue to desperately seek a reason to keep posting this issue as I will continue to point out that their oath was taken on nothing, just as all congressional oaths are and have been for a long, long time...

So, instead of perpetuating a "Koran Oath Myth" to attempt to continue to marginalize all of a group of which these are the fringe... I will instead work to actually educate people on this particular issue. Instead of spreading the simple lie more, I will spread the actual truth of the issue. So, you can bank all you want on a pretend ceremony and the fact that some "wingnuts" (your word, not mine) object to his use of a Koran in a Photo-op... I'll continue to bank in the truth of the matter.
