Nothing wrong with using modern technology. I think they don't do this so they can avoid some of the more nasty votes that might hurt them in the future.

Congress has key card voting. I recall that from when I used to have C-Span. Hell, my ThinkPad has a fingerprint scanner, why not give each Member of Congree a device similarly equipped for remote voting if need be?
 
Not a bad idea, they would have to cut off a finger to sell their vote then....
considering that batch of chickens, no votes would be done by anyone but them.
