I've known him for about 4 years, he's not what you think. He's actually a very smart kid with a very deep and eccentric sense of humor that evades most due to his online persona, which is highly manufactured.

It's more about how people still revel in his bumbling syntax, as though that sets him apart from other, more competent world leaders in a GOOD way.

Just yesterday, Dennis Miller opened his new show with a monologue praising Bush's mangling of the English language; Miller said something like "he must watch a lot of old Gary Cooper movies," and how great it was that he continued to infuriate the left.

It's annoying. There is more to the job of President than speaking well & presenting your ideas with clarity, but that should at least be a minimal criterion we have for the job...

I dig it. I don't buy the "down home" shit either. The guy's a total fucking fool, and he has more blood on his hands than any president since LBJ. But a wisecrack is nothing to get all weird about.

I don't think he's stupid. I think, mostly, he's absent minded.

But that isn't what we're really talking about here. He's an sponge sort of president - he just soaks up ideas and spits them out. He has no creativity at all and no desire to learn. That's much more important than raw "intelligence". Then again, Reagan was much the same... he just he didn't start any wars while he was at it.

I think, really, most of the presidents we've had in the past 50 years have been these kinds of cardboard cutouts. Bush, really, is just the most extreme example.
