will the dems block their own prosecution of bush vis a vis torture because of what dems did and did not know about the torture

The torture is only one possible prosecution bor the Bush admin.
How about lies about Iraq to get to have their war?

Who cares. Bush was one of the worst failures to ever sit in the white house. The best thing we can all do is just forget about him and move on with life and read adopt American values that Bush the the right wingnuts reject.

Carter increased our national debt by how much?

He was apparently more of a fiscal conservative than Bush and his crew of supporters.

Give him 8 years before deciding. He has about 5 trillion or so to catch up with Bush. Remember about 3/4 trillion of this bailout was from Bush.
President Bush presided over a $2.5 trillion increase in the public debt through 2008. Setting aside 2009 (for which Presidents Bush and Obama share responsibility for an additional $2.6 trillion in public debt), President Obama's budget would add $4.9 trillion in public debt from the beginning of 2010 through 2016— nearly double the amount accumulated under President Bush over the same number of years.

you need to factor in the value of the dollar - % of gnp plus the inherited recession/depression and wars

plus the terrible state of our infrastructure due to bush's neglect

oh, and the need to rebuild our military

Seems to be over 2.5 trillion though.

By your figures above, Bush rose the debt as % GNP an average of 2.1% per year while Obama raised it 5.5% in the short time since he's been in office.
