Bye Bye NFL

It was great knowing you when I had the chance

This year was the first volley in tearing down what was once a great American past time. From coercing the teams to wear pink cleats in October to all of this bullshit about concussions, the game will eventually wither away. It won't be tomorrow, it may not be next year. But, in the next 10 years it will be finished.

This was by far the worst NFL season I have watched for many reasons. Goodell is tearing down the sport. I knew when Obama's buddy Demaurice Smith took over the union that it was a bad sign, and I was right

RIP NFL

Bullshit about concussions? So do you think the players are not having concussions or that having traumatic brain injuries for your entertainment is just part of the game? There were 142 concussions and head injuries on the team reports last year, and that does not count any player who did not report the injury or who had a bye week the week after his injury.

The players are bigger and faster, so the impacts are greater and greater. The have to be changes to account for that.

Institute a maximum weight that players may be (for each position) and then slowly decrease the maximum (over time) until players are smaller and less dangerous. Soon all the players will be as skinny as justin beiber

Football is going to have to change or it WILL die. I expect it to lose some steam until it finds a way to happily adjust. Not because of the changes but what is precipitating the change.

What douchebags like ILA think have no real impact. It will be the concerns of future athletes and their parents that causes the decline.

I know a few players that have had some serious issues from head injuries playing in the NFL. That someone wants it to continue just so their entertainment won't change is pretty sad.

LOL yeah, because people accept that steroid-popping multi-millionaire athletes, picked by teams because of their enormous size, occassionally sustain head injuries, that totally means that they WANT them to get injured!

Steve Young
Al Toon
Wayne Chrebet
Troy Aikman

A very short list of NFL stars whose careers were cut short due to concussions. Of course, playing on concrete fields was some idiot's idea that didn't help much.

Only a moron would start a thread claiming the NFL was going to suffer as a result of demanding skill, over deadly force.

Athletes can show off their skill in flag football. You think Americans are going to watch that?

No, they won't. But there are ways of changing equipment requirements, making better medical judgements, and making minor changes to the rules to prevent 150 players from having head trauma.

Yes they are well paid. But the average career length is 3 years.

I blame moronic fans who pay hundreds of dollars to watch a game.

While we're on the moronic football fan subject, I have to ask about the advertisements for NFL gear that I've seen during the games I'm watching here and there: WTF? Am I supposed to identify with the retarded fan in the ad? It makes me not want to buy the gear (as if I would actually buy NFL gear). What's up with two guys having a conversation in two different places? How stupid is that? Tgere's another one where some player is talking to some guy flying in an airplane. Same thing... WTF?

Who comes up with these ads? WTF is wrong with that person?

As if every football player that has suffered a concussion is a millionaire. Many were never paid. Further, it's not occassional.

I have a couple of buddies that played in the league and now they're just regular guys like everyone else trying to earn money to support their family.
