California GOP’s ‘fake’ voter ballot dropoff boxes

The law requires a "person" be designated to return the ballot unless they are returned by mail, dropped in a official box designated by the local official, or personally returned to an election official.
The law also states that the designated person can not receive any compensation for returning the ballot.
The law further defines the drop off box as:
(1) “Vote by mail ballot drop box” means a secure receptacle established by a county or city and county elections official whereby a voted vote by mail ballot may be returned to the elections official from whom it was obtained.

Arguing that it is a variant to provide a drop off box in violation of the law is like arguing that using a gun to make a withdrawal from a bank is simply a variant when compared to using a withdrawal slip.

Doesn't change what I stated. One is a variant of the other, regardless of legal restrictions the state might impose. The real question here is Why allow one and not the other? Why allow either?

This is just a case of showing why ballot harvesting of any kind should be illegal.
