In California, African Americans are arrested on marijuana possession charges in disparate numbers. In 2002, white citizens were arrested at a rate of 134 per 100,000 as compared to 391 for African Americans. This trend carried over to the adult population arrested on marijuana possession charges with whites being arrested at a rate of 143 per 100,000 as compared to 335 for African American adults.



Per capita, African Americans as compared to whites in California are arrested at a 5:1 ratio on marijuana sales charges

African Americans are disproportionately arrested on marijuana sales charges in California demonstrated by African Americans being arrested at a rate of 209 per 100,000 as compared to 32 for whites. This trend carried over to the adult population arrested on marijuana sales charges with white adults being arrested at a rate of 29 per 100,000 as compared to 163 for African American adults.
 
I agree that in this state, and the others, the criminal justice system is inequitably skewed towards the prosecution and conviction, and incarceration of people of color.
 
In California, marijuania is partially decriminalized like in Mississippi. It's a small fine, usually about $100. Well, at least no one's going to prison over it!

White kids are more careful and get caught less. I know more white people who smoke weed than non white people. But whitey doesn't smoke his spliff on the street corner where the man is gonna see him. Whitey hits the pipe in his apartment while he's playing Xbox.
 
It's a national problem but particularlly bad in phoney Caliphonia!!!

Incarceration rates say otherwise. That's a big difference from statistics about use.

Measuring use rates gives a better picture of who is using drugs than going by incarceration statistics, which are a useful indicator of who is getting caught using drugs.

Technically this thread suggests that black kids are getting busted more for dealing drugs, which I would say is pretty accurate. Most of the drug dealers I have known (with one or two notable exceptions ;) ) have been minorities, especially for shit like pot.

white kids smoke way more pot.
Their allowances are much higher.
Younger guy's may not know since overall use is down. In the seventies and 80's is was more prevelant than the morons teens smoking cigs now to rebel against their parental units.

Sorry for this fact--but it is called a free country and one actually has the right to be racist if they want. Don't believe me? Then show me the law that says your thoughts of race superiority are illegal. I am not saying it is ethical, and I wish we spent more time bringing people up, instead of knocking them down--but there is no law, and there can't be a law like that in this country. All they can do to help curb racism is condition you to be nice to everybody. Yea---like that will happen in any race. The conditioning clogs your minds so much, that Libs think it is racest if we want them to deport illegal immirgrants. No Mr. Biden, there are no illegal people---just people that are here illegally. It has nothing to do with race. The race card is played too often, and too often out of context--and it makes us pitty ourselfs.

Most of my friends grew up smokeing pot living in a rural area (where it is easy to grow with land available)- all white--not many get caught, so 95% of them are not in the fed stats. I grew up in the coutry. A city bombards people, telling them what to do and not to do. I would be willing to bet that about 60% of the white population in rural areas smoke, or have smoked pot many times in their live--and almost none get caught.

Personally--I think if your a born looser--your gonna be a looser no matter if you smoke pot or not. Most of the people in rural area I knew that smoked pot, are very productive members of society. Look at Bill Clinton (the winningest looser). Nobody actually believe him when he said he did not inhale--did you? I know better.
 
I grew up in the suburbs in the 70's and it was all over the place.
At concerts it was openly smoked.
