Nice try, his opponent is a black man. There is a history of racists using the phrase to refer to black people.
Nice try is right. There's also a history of using figures of speech with no ulterior motive.

I disagree........"monkeying around" is a far more common reference than a racial slur.....ask any gear head about "monkeying" with a car engine.....its a reference to doing something when you haven't got a clue.......its time to tell the race baiters to go fuck themselves......
The guy is an idiot, he should have learned from others who also claimed to have no motive.Nice try is right. There's also a history of using figures of speech with no ulterior motive.
To each his own but I strongly disagree with that. 538 has done studies on racial beliefs of white democrats and white republicans and they weren't all that far off.
I haven't followed the Florida governors race other than hearing one guy was a trump clone and the other a Bernie clone.
Duly noted!
But the facts are what they are, and all I'm really saying is more Black voters should participate in all of our elections.
Overall, Black voters were down by 765,000 votes in 2016 as compared to 2012. Only 59% of eligible Black voters voted in the 2016 election.
When you consider the fact that Donald Trump won by only 80,000 votes in three swing states, a higher Black voter turnout could very well have helped prevent a nightmarish White Nationalist Donald Trump victory. Are you with me so far? That's all I'm trying to say here today!
It is up to every race of people to perform a duty to their own political issues- whatever they may be- and vote.
If we are ever to level the playing field here in America, we will need more people to vote- and more candidates of every color in the race too!
I don’t think it’s dumb, it’s was dumb on DeSantis part. He apparently didn’t learn from other’s mistakes. I think Gilium will continue to run a clean campaign and focus on the things Floridians care about as he did during the primaries.
I guess. The problem is that the people making racial faux pas are exclusively Conservatives. We're even talking about one of those Conservatives right now. We don't hear this shit out of Democratic candidates, just Republican ones. It's not hard to figure out why; the Republican Party is friendly to racists and has been for decades. Desantis is just another in a long, long line of Conservatives expressing latent racist things on the campaign trail.
Yes, true that Trump and Bernie each endorsed opposing candidates. But one thing of note, turnout in the Democratic Primary in Florida yesterday was far, far, far above that going all the way back to 2006. If Democratic enthusiasm is there in November, Gillian will win. Same as Georgia. If they can turn out the vote, Abrams will win there in another Trump/Bernie proxy war.
It’s the sort of faux issue that turns a lot of good people away from politics.
And I think the left is making a miscalculation if they think calling DeSantis a racist will win Gilium votes.
the republican party cheats black voters out of their rights tovote to win elections
so you blame the people the republican cheated?
Man it ain't even subtle anymore ...
Let the Whistle Blowing begin ...![]()
Don't waste your time telling me bout how Blacks need to participate.
Half our men are in prison and can't vote, and the other half are suppressed......along with the rest of the Black population.
I don't believe your facts PERIOD!. Blacks would not have made a difference in this election because the election was stolen by a bunch of racist white men.
So please, unless you are ready to face the fact that it's white men screwing over and cheating in the elections...don't tell me about Black participation.
I am not here to argue with you or insult you! In fact, I agree with most of what you are saying.
I am here to tell you that voting is important, and every citizen has a civil obligation and civil right to vote at every opportunity.
it was a double. First he called him "articulate". That is what bigots call blacks to imply the fact they are articulate is a big shock for a black. What black politician calls a white one articulate? Then he threw in the racist "monkey" Which is an indication of horrible bigotry, or utter stupidity. Pick which one you like, but either DQ him from a vote. It was a cringeworthy speech he should not have made.
