Can Trump win Florida?

3 polls in the last week all show Biden leading Trump in Florida. The Fox News Poll has Biden up by 9 points. The other 2 polls have Biden up by 5-6 points.

Florida is still a must win state for Trump and it is looking less and less like he will win it. The increase in Covid cases in Florida isn't going to help Trump.
 
It's almost the end of July and the polling in Florida hasn't changed much. If anything it looks worse for Trump with a couple of polls showing him trailing by double digits.

Trump's plan to hold his nomination and acceptance in Florida went bust last week as the pandemic became a reality he couldn't ignore.
Florida has been seeing over 10,000 new positive tests per day and they have now passed NY with the total number of confirmed cases.
This morning it was announced that 12 players with the Miami Marlins have tested positive cancelling baseball games for them.
 
Trump absolutely has to have an October surprise, like claiming a Corona vaccine. He does not need to have one, but just saying it will help. He has no trouble doing that. Vaccines are making progress in Europe. But they are not imminent.

I've thought about that one, but I don't think in this case that will work. He will immediately be contradicted by whatever company he claims has the vaccine ready. They would have no choice. Something like 'while the progress we have made in licensing a vaccine for public use is encouraging, we do not at this time have a vaccine that is ready to be distributed broadly to the population. Our phase X trial continues to proceed, and the results have been extremely encouraging.' To do anything else would be to open themselves to either a lawsuit or a public relations disaster.

If there is a cure of some type, that has what to do w/ him?? Is he going to claim he invented it & cured the survivors??? -the 300,000 dead from the virus of course..

An interesting side note, in Florida, with all the OBG's, mail in voting would benefit the GOP, yet Trump insists it shouldn't be allowed, although most view this as just a set up to delegitimize the election if he loses

Here in Florida many of the old Trumpers are not wearing masks and dying off. I wish he’d hold a rally or two around here.

But the Trump base won't be made aware of such a statement because Faux News won't report on it.

I no longer care at all about the Trump base. They represent at most 40% of the electorate. Probably much less at this point. They are incorrigible. They cannot be reached. There is literally nothing that Trump could do that would stop them from voting for him. Nothing. They are fine with Trump costing tens of thousands of Americans their lives. They're cool with it, and in fact they want more. So you're right, but it will make no difference. Zero.
 
It's now early September and Trump is still trailing in most of the polls in Florida.
Admittedly, the race has gotten tighter than it was the end of July. The race is similar to what it was in 2016 at this point but Trump was leading in more polls then.
