Can you name one time in History where it was a good thing to ban or burn books?

I can't think of one time where I would support this kind of thing. I get that a publisher can decide what to publish, and that this isn't government action. I am not conflating these things. I am just thinking that removing books from the public sphere has proven to not be a positive action when we look back through history.

This company made a marketing decision not to make more copies because no one will buy a book that is deemed to send flawed messages to kids

Anyway, there is no ban on Dr. Seuss books. They're still at libraries and you can still order copies.

It is shocking how much stuff happens now with little objection from the elites that back when I was a kid almost no one would have put up with all, much less silently.

This is your sign that people on the large are rotted out, which is your sign that things will get very bad.

I think that removing certain books is not right. But one of the best things about a country with free media is that we have the right to learn about when certain books are banned from library shelves. Burning books implies total eradication so using that word is inflammatory, so to speak. lol Certain books have been publicized as banned since before I was born. The cool thing about publicizing that is that it makes free and intelligent minds want to read them. It has always been so, throughout human history. I've read dozens of them myself. You?

Well, according to Phantasmal the word 'Nigger' should be banned and I'm assuming all books and movies that use words of that nature.
I believe she feels our Negro friends are like little children, and will possibly wet themselves if such a word is ever uttered.

Then again, she's told me the US Constitution guarantees that Muslim children have the Right to bring their Prayer Rugs to Public School.
This is why I come to JPP. To gather Knowledge that I was heretofore unaware of.

Oh, and don't get me started on her Theory of Age of Consent being 25!

any book that is no longer published should be released to the public domain as an ebook.....(though I am sure these six have been uploaded as torrents a dozen times today already)......
 
I literally donated copies of every one of those books about a year ago. Now some are selling for ridiculous prices. I'm sad.

No. Information should never be destroyed. It is wise to limit information to age appropriate or for security reasons. Why have a book on homemade poisons in an Elementary School library?

It would never be appropriate to burn books just because someone doesn't like the information.
