Do you need permission from your government to travel to Cuba
No, fuck them. They say we need permission, but I don't believe I need permission. They can't tell me what to do. They can mandate whatever they want, and they do, but its meaningless to me.

And we all know the ability to travel to cuba is the only meaningful measure of freedom there is. NOT.
Of course it isn't, but it stops American blowhards dead in their tracks when I tell them that my country can't stop me going to any other country in the world. Their stupidity - blowhard Americans I mean - in trying to proclaim the US "the freedomest" (that's the Free Republic version) nation on Earth, hits them right in their uni-eyebrow when they stop to think they're not allowed to visit Cuba. It then allows me some time to explain the complexities in judging freedom from nation to nation. That usually results in the cyber-equivalent of a dull stare from the blowhard(s).
That's the spirit. It's okay though, all you need to do is what many other Americans do, fly through a third country. Cuban Customs won't stamp your passport so you won't get the 5 am knock on the door asking why you went to Cuba without permission from your government.
I know all this already. I've been.
My point is, they don't own me, or any other citizen, no matter how hard they try. Those cockholes work for us, and its a damned shame that the public so readily sees it the other way around.
A sentiment I can admire.
However, its not worthy of admirtion, except in a jaded society wherein the norm is willful seccession to the governments ownership of the individual.
Freedom to live and let live, and the belief that such is not a government issued right, but a naturally issued right, is not admiribale. Its natural.
However, the flipside of that coin is abominable.
I'm jaded, we have an election campaign for the federal government. It feels as if it has been going for about four years. I am sick and tired of lying politicians. I am also sick and tired of politicians that think they rule us. And they do, between elections.

Indeed, the term "police state" is now no longer a political fiction term, but a term of relativity.
Not all blowhards here sir. Tell me something I don't know about our freedom being lost. Myself, I think I would like to relocate---may be to the South island of NZ some day. I would almost rather switch, than fight. But, quite frankly, I am not sure if the grass is really more green in your area.
theMAJORITY: said:I think many productive countries are all kind of simular--they just have their own spin. I know I am not paying over half of my paycheck for a health care WELFARE system--yet. Wait until that happens.
theMAJORITY: said:The blowhards might learn something when they can't afford to keep their car running, or have decient food on the table---but may be they will lose some friggen weight--and stay a bit more healthy--huh? . I personally feel we need to go through some tough times---real tough times-----to the point of most being hungry, before we wise up as a population. The people still have some big power in this country. We can still change how our government works---we just can't agree on what the problem is, what solutions to impliment, or what the good things are, so it is hard to unite in masses big enough to make a change-----but it does still happen. We also have a main stream media that is super biased, and does not offer different perspectives often, along with major universities being very liberial---and now our high schools and preschools are now learning that they should live their life "for the good of the all"---which is--of course---The BIG CLUB, who only care about themselfs. They don't want to teach indivduality, and to realize human nature to want to be free to use your talents to the best of your desires, to achieve your goals. They now want to teach that you must think "the good for the all--or greater good" and not about yourself. We can make robots to do that. It is the duty of every American to do what they need to do to EARN the lifestyle they want. That is not going to be any easier when "The greater good" mentality gets social health care in here, while utilities go up, and wages go down.
Good luck--I am glad I am self employed right now.
I see us wising up though. What kind of talk raido do you guys have down under? Consertative talk raido (with some libertarian thrown in) is getting much more popular--and helps wake people up IMO.
