It wasn't Catholocism, for the most part, it was Kings, Queens, etc. Basically, it was governments and patriarchy using religion which is why the separation is such a needed element.

You are rewriting history the Inquisition was very much a church show. The churchs current anti-gay stance has nothing to do with Kings or Queens
