A man was arrested Friday night after a chase that exceeded 100 mph and almost hit multiple cars, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.

Metro 911 dispatchers said the chase started on East Dupont Avenue in Quincy and ended on Pine Street in Shrewsbury.

Daishaun Ford was arrested, according to deputies. Ford has been charged with felony fleeing and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Deputies said Ford changed directions during the nearly five-minute pursuit, going both east and west on U.S. 60, with his vehicle eventually coming to a rest on railroad tracks on Pine Street. He got out and ran before being caught in a neighbor’s yard.

Ford had a firearm, deputies said, and they found marijuana, digital scales, and clear plastic baggies inside the vehicle.

New information has been released from the Perry Police Department as the search for a wanted suspect continues.

Turner County deputies and Georgia State Patrol were in pursuit of a Dodge Charger that 31-year-old Martrey Derenzo Williams -- who was wanted for felony charges out of Clayton County -- was driving.

Officials state that the Turner County Sheriff's Office and GSP asked the Perry Police Department to block local I-75 north exits at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, Williams got off the interstate at exit 134 and was able to drive away from the pursuing officers. The suspect got out of his car and ran into some woods east of I-75 in Perry.

Perry police, GSP, and deputies from Houston, Dooly, and Turner counties set up a perimeter, and K-9 units from the Perry Police Department and the Georgia Department of Corrections were deployed to track Williams.

During the search law enforcement located a .40 caliber weapon and some of Williams' clothes.

The search continued south and east of Perry, and a GSP aviation unit was brought in.

During the search, the Perry Police Department was contacted regarding a suspicious person and vehicle on the 300 block of Ag Village Blvd.

The individual, identified as 31-year-old Dayontice Jolesia Blackmon, of Fairburn, was determined to have been traveling with Williams and was in the area to pick him up. Officers arrested Blackmon for driving on a suspended license, giving false information, and obstruction. She was booked at the Houston County Jail.

One of the two dogs taken during a crime spree in D.C. earlier this week is back home, but while seven people were arrested in connection with the theft, four were released without charges on Friday.

Four adults, in addition to three juveniles, were taken into custody Thursday night as officers carried out a search warrant at a home in the 1200 block of 18th Place NE, Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Chief Morgan Kane said, in which they recovered Pablo — an Australian shepherd stolen from his owner during an armed robbery on Wednesday.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said Friday evening that it had opted not to move forward with charges of receiving stolen property against the four adults arrested, and that all had been released. It added that the investigation continues.

It is unclear whether the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia intends to pursue the same charge against the three juveniles in the case. One of the juveniles, a 15-year-old resident of Lanham, Maryland, was also charged in connection with three armed carjackings throughout the District a day before the two dogs were stolen.

At a news conference Friday, Kane stressed the investigation remains in its early stages and that additional charges are possible. Detectives were still present Friday morning at the residence where officers found Pablo, she said.

Officers conducting the search found two guns — an AR-15-style rifle and a 45-caliber pistol — along with various types of ammunition and drugs at the residence.

Pablo was reunited with his family on Thursday and appeared at Friday’s news conference, napping in his owner’s arms.

Bruno, a French bulldog stolen when his owner was held at gunpoint on the 5400 block of Kansas Avenue NW, that same day is still missing, Kane said.

Authorities on Friday arrested parole violator George Walker, a man who had eluded law enforcement since December after a third violation.

"George Walker was arrested today by law enforcement in Columbus on his parole violation and was taken into custody," said JoEllen Smith, a spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

Walker, 66, was arrested two days after The Dispatch reported on Walker's history of parole violations after he was convicted and imprisoned for two armed robberies on Jan. 21, 1986, one at a service station at East 17th and Woodland avenues on the Northeast Side and another later at The Clarmont restaurant on South High Street in German Village.

Walker was sentenced to 133 years to 214 years for the robberies. But he ultimately was paroled twice, each time violating parole.

He was sent back to prison. In July 2018, the Ohio Parole Board denied his request for a third parole. But Walker became eligible for parole in 2021, and after a July 8 hearing, the parole board granted his release. Walker was out again on Sept. 8.

He violated his parole a third time, and the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction had listed him as a violator-at-large since Dec. 22.

Retired Columbus police Cmdr. Bob Meader, who filed an objection to Walker's release in 2018, said he was told Walker was arrested at a McGuffey Road address in South Linden. Meader said the U.S. Marshals Service found Walker at the address and then called Columbus police to help.

"My hope is that the parole board will stop giving him chances to be a recidivist," Meader said.

"In other words, keep him locked up," he said.

A 24-year-old man was arrested after a woman was found deceased in a Jefferson County home.

Angel Rodriguez is accused of second-degree murder.

His arrest came as a result of a death investigation that started Thursday around 1:45 p.m. after Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a homicide.

When the deputies arrived, they found the caller, who has now been identified as Rodriguez, on the front lawn. They took him into custody for questioning after finding a deceased woman inside the home. She had an obvious traumatic injury, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office said earlier that day, around 5:10 a.m., deputies responded to the same address for a welfare check. The person who called 911 told dispatch a partial address and then hung up without explaining the emergency. The sheriff's office said they believe the caller was Rodriguez.

Dispatch attempted to call again and then initiated a welfare check.

When deputies arrived, they couldn't contact anybody, but spoke on the phone with Rodriquez’s mother, who owns the home. She said the family could handle it, so deputies cleared the scene.

The sheriff's office said investigators are working to determine the relationship between Rodriquez and the woman found deceased in the home later that day. The woman was not his mother, the sheriff's office said. She has not yet been identified.
