Chavez loses his election for life

If it had been proven to be fraud, then there would be people in prison. The election itself was settled in court (what a fine moment for the US), so I doubt that if there was any actual proof Gore and co. would have hesitated to drag Bush and his buddies straight to prison. There is certainly more integrity in the US election system than that of most of the third world.

The elected Bush government. We were talking about elections, and it is his right as president to do as he sees fit unless he finishes his term or gets removed from office.

Then what's your problem .. Chavez is the elected leader of his country .. should it also be his right to do whatever he sees fit until he's removed from office?

I couldn't care less what you assume to read .. as you run run run away from the issue in typical goper fashion.

No, I'm just pointing out that you wouldn't be complaining about the integrity of American elections if your guy had won....and that is the simple fact.

If the Democrats win next year I expect you to be just as angry about election fraud.

Another permanent resident of the Whitewash House!

Bush hasn't done anything illegal, ahahahaha, keep your day job!

Please...if any of you had a shred of proof that he had done something ACTUALLY illegal, he would be in prison right now. If Congress wanted to stop him they could at any moment, but they are too busy playing pissing games.

Point is, in this current Bush-hating environment, Bush couldn't get away with anything illegal.

But enjoy your Kool-Aid.

What the fuck is your love of power-hungry wanna-be dictator Chavez? You would wipe his ass no matter what he did because he calls himself a socialist.

The man originally tried to seize power through a military coup. When he finally did take power in '99 he wrote and implemented the Constitution which he soon felt constrained by. He literally just tried to extend his presidential term, abolish term limits altogether for only the office of President, and put an unprecedented amount of the Venezeulan government under his control and still you wipe his ass because he's a socialist and a Bush-basher.

Pathetic.

I've never once said I love Chavez, warren. I don't really give a crap who venezuelans elect, as long as their choice is democratic.

This is a simple matter of getting the factual record right. Bush lovers claim Chavez is a dictator. The reality is, that the democratic process and voting appear to be working quite well there, based on yesterday's vote. Bank on this: if this referendum were held in Russia, Putin would have made sure the vote came out his way, particularly for such a razor thin margin.

This is why I don't argue with this guy.

There is no point in arguing with someone that ignorant of facts. I don't have the time, the interest, or the temperment for it.

Read: I'm a sore loser.

Tell us all about what you know of the machines that we now vote on?

You claim to be a journalist and do not know the facts of the case?

ANYONE with one ounce of fair play in their blood would undestand there is a very BIG problem with the tactics which have been used by the Republican party to twart legal voters from having their votes counted.

Go take a look at the fully documented court cases.

I will tell you that due to Federal law we were required to have a touch screen at each polling place. It sat there up and untouched the entire last time we voted. Each person voted as they preferred on the Eagle Optech, which is a optical scanner machine with a considerable paper trail as each of the ballots simply falls into the box below as it is counted.

It gives a reading that shows how many votes for each candidate at the beginning so if one or the other cheated by adding negative to one and positive to the other we would see it even if the vote count was zero when we began...

It is a good machine, it is solid, and it is trustworthy.

The Felons list in Florida in 2000 went through the courts and guess what? Florida dropped their felons list completely rather than try to defend the bullshit they concocted to keep perfectly legal voters off the rolls. Its was all done by a completely Republican gov.

That is just ignorance of the profession...like saying that a dentist should know all the facts about brain surgery.

Ignoring that, why did those fully documented court cases (that I notice you did not provide) not end in some sort of legal action against the Republicans? Clearly if there such overwhelming evidence of fraud someone should have been convicted, at least.

Perfect example of non-logic and not being educated about the facts.

Elections in Venezuela have international monitoring. Elections in the US do not and to deny vote-tampering and fraudulent elections in the US is stupid.

Polling was not the only indicator that something was seriously wrong with the results and elections of 2000 and 2004.

I don't think that any developed liberal democracy has international monitoring. The only time international monitering is needed is if a fledling democracy needs legitimacy.
