I'm bored, so I'm going to make quite a gamble with you folks at JPP. You will help choose the firearm to sit by my bedside for the next week, ready to defend my property from communists.

I chose a sniper just for the sheer absurdity of someone keeping a sniper rifle next to their bedside.

Sometimes you have to pick the commies off from a distance through your bedroom window though. Note: the black ones are the communists.

I went for the Maverick 88 because it conjurers up images of Tom Cruises in Top Gun, so you could execute intrusive communists to the dulcet tones of Kenny Loggin singing 'Danger Zone' but pronouncing zone as "zowwwn".

I think communists would like this.

I chose the AR15, because it's cool... even though it is funny to think of as a home defense weapon.

Son....if you need a bedside gun other then Mr. John Henry Johnson.....then you have problems.

Curse you Charver! I'll never be able to fire another automatic weapon again with out that repulsive image/song going round n round in my head.

Go with one of the shotguns. They are quick, potent, and the noise of racking in a round will send most criminals scurrying like roaches.

They make a gizmo that fits between the mattress & box springs and has a pair of hooks in which to set a long gun.

Personally, I am a fan of a big bore revolver in a lockbox, especially one of the biometric ones.

Who needs a bedside gun? I figure any burglar gets one look at my wife in her face mask, hair curlers and her "I never want to have sex again pajamas", they'll immeadiatly turn to stone.

Nothing screams male inadequacy, and possibly mental illness, than an AK-47 hanging over the bed. *

I think the automatic assault rifles above the headboard is also a good move with the ladies.

My secret for success; a nice little factoid: have separate bedrooms for the boyfriend/girlfriend or the husband/wife.

The gals love to do up the bedroom with all that girly stuff. Man, I can't stand that frilly stuff. Plus everyone likes to have their own space. And you, Mr. Oath Keeper dude (or whatever they're called) can turn your bedroom into a fantastical militia armory!

*j/k, bro

Threedee, I should have been more clear. The single action is a single action army revolver, not the colt 45 auto. That's the 1911.

Hmm... at any rate, I recommend either a handgun or a semi. None of this gigantic hardware (or sniper rifle) for such a precarious situation.

My pick, the Fs2000, is legally considered a pistol in MI (has a length less than 30in).
