Precious...simply precious.

I just assumed that because you were a cheapskate you wouldn't bother to read it anyway..

I read it, and this is what it says:

Fox News ratings are slumping. Here's its playbook to broaden its appeal.
By Claire Atkinson|Oct. 8th, 2021

After President Trump, a raging pandemic, social justice riots and an attack on the Capitol catapulted Fox News into record-breaking ratings territory last year, ratings have fallen back to Earth.

But the Murdochs aren't standing still. Rupert Murdoch and his son, Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch, have spent the past few weeks at the company's New York headquarters focused on making its multi-billion dollar Fox News palatable to a broader group of viewers and advertisers.

As the network hits its 25th year, they're expanding outside of news and opinion to positive, patriotic fare to lure younger audiences and those who may not even consider themselves conservatives. Marketers who might have blanched at having their messages sandwiched between Judge Jeanine and MyPillow commercials fronted by Mike Lindell, infamous for his election fraud claims, can now choose homier fare.

In April, the network launched a right-leaning late night comedy show with Greg Gutfeld. In September, Fox Business primetime swapped opinion shows for a documentary style line-up about American engineering marvels and dream homes.

In primetime, Fox News is bigger than CNN and MSNBC combined, with an average total audience of 2.37 million in the third quarter, per Nielsen. Coverage of the Afghanistan withdrawal, immigration woes at the southern border, anger at vaccine mandates, and cancel-culture segments have swelled its cable news share to 50 percent from 45 percent in the third quarter a year ago, among all audiences, according to Nielsen data through September 22.

News fatigue is hitting cable across the board. Fox's flagship network is down 32 percent in primetime versus a year ago. Fox News is hoping to capture viewers on TV, online or via a podcast or radio broadcast, maybe even a book. Fox is also betting its new weather channel, Fox Weather, set to launch this month, will allow the company to do brand tie-ins for such products as flu medication that its news networks can't do.

"The next phase is about expanding across genres," said Jeff Collins, executive vice president ad sales for Fox News Media. "What that means for clients is that we can reach consumers in different contextual environments."

Fox is betting lighter fare will win over new viewers

Fox Nation was full of opinion content when it launched in November 2018, and the $5.99-per-month streaming app recently added Clint Eastwood movies and reality show "Cops" in addition to a lifestyle interview show fronted by Tucker Carlson and a series from controversial host Piers Morgan. Holiday themed feel-good movies are also on the way.

"We're focused on creating a complementary experience to expand the Fox News Media reach," Fox Nation president Jason Klarman said, adding that Fox Nation is attracting people from across the political spectrum. "Part of that is bringing other people in through the door."

At around 1 million subscribers, according to estimates, Fox Nation has a scale challenge, though. "They need to add compelling original content for Fox News superfans," said independent research analyst Michael Nathanson of MoffettNathanson. "It isn't the same model as entertainment SVOD that uses big movies and expensive series and deep libraries to compete."

Some advertisers remain wary of the network, though.

Katerina Eva Matsa, an associate director at Pew Research, pointed out that more DEMOCRATS and independents already watch Fox News than people might think, and its viewers aren't as far to the right as some other TV outlets such as NewsMax and OANN. Whether they trust the content is another matter, she added.

Collins maintains that news is still powerful in attracting live audiences, which helped Fox attract hundreds of new clients last year.

And data from measurement company SMI suggests that Fox News can charge more than its rivals. A Fox News CPM, or cost per one thousand viewers is $20, while CNN is $15 and MSNBC is $13, according to data through July 2021. The average in cable programming, excluding sports, is $17. In digital video, Fox is able to charge more than its rivals, too, at $27 per CPM.

But Brian Wieser, global president of business intelligence at ad-buying giant GroupM, said while some advertisers just want eyeballs, others will hesitate about directing dollars to Fox, even its non-opinion content. He wondered where a Fox-branded weather channel would stand on climate change, for example.

Asked how he persuades skeptical New York-based media buyers to spend on Fox News, Collins said: "The vast majority of clients put emotions aside and make best decisions for their clients. What we try to do is present the facts and take the analytics and the numbers and take the emotion out of the decisions."

Note the date, and the lack of evidence to support the various contentions.

Maybe he couldn't handle working for a network that regularly trounces his new employers because he's into self-loathing and has daddy issues, like many DEMOCRAT men.

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace announced on Sunday that he was leaving for CNN. Fox has pulled far ahead of CNN and MSNBC in the ratings.

Wallace’s contract as host of “Fox News Sunday” was up at the end of December.

Nancy boy Wallace was reportedly butthurt about the success of Tucker Carlson's recent documentary that exposed the inner workings of the DEMOCRAT-staged 21st century version of the Reichstag fire.

Chris Wallace Swims Over To CNN’s Sinking Ship

In A Cringe-worthy Sayonara.

It would have made a better Christmas present last year than this one: Chris Wallace’s sudden departure from Fox News.
It would have been better for Fox News to have announced it, rather to have heard about it from CNN.
News about the talking heads of cable television never survives in the realm of spin for overly long.

Straight shooting integrity was never there, CNN was always a better fit.
Good riddance!

He must have taken the phony tony stab. That's about the only think that would explain why someone would go to the Communist News Network

CNN has to buy integrity these days. Not sure Chris brings that but he's the kind of stick in the mud they like to have around.

Note: guy lamed out on a nomination. I don't respect people that do that and they usually end up out of a job afterwards.

Indeed.

I have a friend who was a news anchor at our local Fox station decades ago and he told me that Chris was out of favor at FOX because of his arrogant attitude with his co-workers and his consistent leftward slanting of the news. His smirking smile wasn’t endearing either.

Plus he's that other leftist Wallace's kid. No one can be surprised by this.

He's a registered DEMOCRAT who was reportedly angry about Tucker Carlson's success.

:nono:

That's anecdotal hearsay of the kind employed by DEMOCRATS, Earl.

Yes, but I did not post it as evidence. Just a friend’s opinion of that situation.

Why bother, when you know as well as I do that anecdotes are irrelevant on a political discussion forum?

That's what DEMOCRATS do, and you're smarter than they are.

Chris is leaving the most watched cable news, FOX, for CNN, with a huge viewership of twelve (12) people.

You should think about maturing at your old age!

Don't you think it is time for you to grow up- EARLY SQUIRRELY?

You are no different than a 2 year old when it comes to handling adversity- YOU JUST CRY AND CRY!
