Christian nutters strike again...

I'm feeling generous, so here is the one verse you said didn't exist

*** They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.* (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

?????.....and from that you conclude Christians shouldn't seek medical attention?......

But I CAN think of dozens of verses from the Koran that supports their beliefs that they are to "fight", "kill", "slay" and "smite the necks" of the unbelievers "until religion should only be for allah"

I confused this post and the other when I responded to the one verse, forgive me, I am home with a severe case of the flu.

Clearly the Schaibles are using tortured and twisted interpretation of the Bible to justify letting two of their children die. And read this forum to see how posters twist Scripture to justify their political views and various bigotries. You've probably read stories about parents who disown their kids if they're gay, how does that correlate with the teachings of Jesus? And that's only one example.

It doesn't correlate with the teachings of Jesus. That's my point. What they did had nothing to do with Christianity

The Bible enourages healing and gives many home remedies, but what Christie might be referring to that there is a very small minority of Christians that won't get loud transfusions, won't go to a doctor, handle snakes and drink poisin because they believe if they not put their trust in the will of G-d they are oozed to hell.

It is not all Christians just a very misguided minority.

A minority that doesn't follow Christian doctrine and instead creates their own doctrine to follow. That's why I don't blame Christianity for their actions that have nothing to do with Christianity.

Idiocy....pure idiocy. Nothing wrong with prayer...but as the saying goes, God helps those who help themselves.

I'm a believer....I make no bones about it....but I am of the opinion that God's creations include our innovation and technology...or at least the gift of intellect and scientific curiosity.

Good. But also convenient. It is only by the amendment of supposedly immutable truth that the institution survives. Evidence the pressure on the Catholic Church and its slow, creaking accommodations.

Oh...if you delve deep enough and cherry pick hard enough...you will find they were following biblical scripture...I wonder if their church has a website....if it does, it will probably explain their.doctrine. The snake handlers of West Virginia base their doctrine on a passage that talks about a biblical person "handling serpents" and was not harmed because of his faith.

Like Rana said...they are misguided, but they are Christians. I don't "blame Christianity" either...I blame their sect's founders and leaders.

Nothing in the bible supports what these parents did. Nothing in the bible prohibits people from seeking medical treatment.

your innocence, so delightful.

nah I meant it the way you thought it wasn't. I don't believe kids should be taught to be intellectual lazy, and believe in fairy tales as if they were real. Doing so is making our children intentionally dumber and less equipped to handle the world.

Lumping everyone together? my sons both believe in God, and Both excel at science.

See post above

They quote one verse

2 Timothy 3:16 ”Every Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for convincing, for correction of error, and for instruction in right doing;” [so we must] 14, “continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of,” as the right and scriptural thing to do.

Nope, nothing there to support their actions.

The newsletter wasn't about faith healing...it was about insurance vs faith. But here's some biblical verses that they may be using....

Genesis 1:1-31 - In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

gosh, I've used that one myself....do I have to throw away my aspirin?.....

How.many did you read? Did you click the "read more" links?

Quit making excuses for these dipshits...they are cherry picking scripture, interpreting it literally, and basing their doctrine on those cherry picked, self interpreted scriptures.

Of course, I understand....if you admit that these flakes are doing this...then you have to question cherry picked, self interpreted scriptures that the right uses to justify their anger based rants on "other people's sins".

I wasn't aware I was making excuses for anyone.....so kindly go find someplace quiet and fuck yourself......

I see verses supporting praying to god and being healed by god. Dont see anything that would prevent them from seeing a Dr.

No...they made that shit up on their own....using verses like those for their doctrine....just like the snake handling churches in WV. Just like Conservative fundamentalism does with abortion and gays and government and whatever else you guys blather on about.
