You're much better off with New Mexican Food. Its a bit like Mexican Food, but the Chili is fresher, nobody is selling Fentanyl, and everyone is an American.

What we call Mexican food would better be called Tex Mex food. Americans who retire to Mexico sometimes complain they cannot find what they consider Mexican food in Mexico.

There is no greater of a chance that Mexicans would work in a Taco Bell than a McDonald's, an On the Border than a Appleby, an Qdoba's than a Saladworks, etc.

Cinco de Mayo is not a major holiday in most parts of Mexico. Newer immigrants are confused by American love of a random, minor, regional holiday.

My Hispanic office manager LOVED to celebrate Cinco de Mayo I asked why she celebrated it and she had no idea why. I had to tell her why :laugh:
 
Mexico has regional food and celebrations no different than any other part of the world. They have tourist traps for Americans who don't like pig head tamales or entrails soup. You have to get away from the city for authentic Mexican food and tradition.

It's not that big of a day in their history. Their "Independence Day" is in September. Cinco de Mayo is far more commonly celebrated in America.
