clinton lovers?

Well given the vast majority were deficit spenders, I still have to break them down. Reagan was most certainly not the worst. He added $1.6 trillion to the debt as did Clinton. The two Bushs were the worst culprits.... especially the current one.

Well, looking at deficit spending as a percentage of GDP Reagan was the worst, followed by Bush I, followed by Bush II and then Clinton who isn't even close to the others. So, in reality Reagan was the worst culprit.

You're right he wasn't. He was way better. He was a lot more fiscally and socially responsible.

Bullshit. Clinton added about 1.6 trillion to the debt.... as did Reagan. Then take a look at the climate of both and Reagan beats Clinton hands down.

What did Clowntoon have to deal with? Rabid fat girls and cigars? Clinton did a good job of staying out of the way of the economy. He was a moderate and did do a good job trying to actually reduce the debt, but that said... no way was he a better leader than Reagan.

Well... look at it in terms of principal and interest payments... you know the thing we actually have to pay back.... and they are the same.

Not to mention that there was not one single spending bill that Reagan signed that could not have been stopped by Tip.

Similar, Clinton from 1994 on could not have signed anything that the Reps did not send to him.

Freak - I'll trade you my 1.6 thousand in 1988 dollars for your 1.6 thousand in 200 dollars. Deal?

Allegedly. However, a big dropped occured after 9/11, and I'm 95% certain the democrats would have taken a report seriously that read, "Bin Laden Plans to Attack on US Soil.".

Allegedly? With all due respect LadyT you are speaking as a party hack right now.

I work in the Silicon Valley during the late '90's and that was the major driver behind the boom. The enevitable dot-com bubble burst in March 2000. You can only have so many companies valued at billions of dollars with little or no revenue. We already entered a recession prior to 9/11. 9/11 just made things worse.

So you say the ballooning of the deficit Reagan did had no effect on the Clinton debt?

Longest peacetime expansion.

And here are the Clinton lovers trying to give him credit for a VC backed dot-com boom he had nothing to do with.

I understand. You voted twice, for one of the worst presidents we've ever had. The only way to rationalize that in your mind, is to claim that other successful presidents just got lucky. ;)

Oh, so Clinton did start the VC backed dot-com boom. Well, why doesn't just tell us how one creates said boom so we can all go through it again.

I wasn't referring to the pre 9/11 economy. I was referring to the post 9/11 economy which I believe would have definitely been better if a democrat was in office.

Again, whether or not a democrat in office in the early part of 2001 would have had the same effect on the economy is anybody's guess. I'm convinced that Bush is unique is will negligence of minding the country and had a democrat been in office there is a huge chance in my opinion that 9/11 could have been thwarted. I don't buy into republican apologists claims that 'it was unavoidable'.

One of them was spending for a cold war, the other was supposed to be using the "cold war equity" or whatever they called it to actually DECREASE the debt. Instead both parties held hands and danced into 1.6 Trillion dollars more debt all the while crowing how they had balanced the budget.

They even had Desh so convinced that she tried to tell me that 18 Billion increase in debt is paying it off....
