The attempt to distract from an argument based on the difference between conversational usage as opposed to those who are Psychologists, the difference between "subconscious" and "unconscious mind", is solely an attempt to distract from the actual discussion. There really is no difference to the layman, nor is there any real need for one. Are you sure you don't have some Engineer in you? This is some minutiae that I know would distract my colleagues...

Don't you think SF is a better person for knowing this though? If you are in a room of academics and you use that expression, they will wince internally. I like to know what I'm talking about when I speak. But hey, that's me.

In that case I will use the term subconscious deliberately. Nothing like making a holier than thou academic suffer a bit.
