One winter's night in, I think, 1970 or so, the mercury in the thermometer in my grandfather's kitchen garden froze. That's 40 below, for them as don't know. Of course, that was at nearly 7000 feet in northern New Mexico.
I went camping once up at about 13,000 ft. The Temp was abotu 30 below, but the wind chill had to be below 70... The wind was just deady. We made a snow cave. I didn't think it was possible to be that warm in such weather!
