College football starts in 7 weeks!!

The game turned when TCU's QB threw that idiotic shuttle pass, then the officials missed a obvious facemask on the TCU QB.
The honest truth is, that though TCU is a good team with good team speed, Ohio State had more speed, greater size and more depth. TCU was simply worn out by the start of the fourth quarter and the Buckeyes sportingly ran the clock out. Now that's hurting OSU as it's feeding right into the freaking SEC mythology cause OSU didn't beat them by two more touchdowns, which OSU could have easily done.

We need a real playoff system. Earn your place by winning your conference or go home and cry. The conference championship games should really be the first round of the playoffs and it's bye-bye to the losers. We have to end this crap of national champions by proxy. The last two years there were teams in the playoff who didn't earn the right to be there. This has to end.

Only thing about conference,is everyone doesn't play everyone every year, meaning some teams end up with a easy conference schedule.
The system needs work.

It would still be a more rational system that you have to win your division to play in your conference championship game, which it is, then only conference champions can advance to the playoff.

I disagree with the conference championships being required to get in the CFP. That makes every non-conference game irrelevant.

Playing one less game does not mean someone didn't earn their spot. It is up to the committee to pick the best teams. I think they have done that reasonably well.

Last year, if auburn had won the SEC Championship game, they still would have had 2 losses. Alabama would have had only 1. And one of auburn's losses would have been to a team that finished 9-4.

Also, there are teams that don't play conference championships. Notre Dame and BYU come to mind.

So far Alabama has played a team from the Sun Belt and one of the many mediocre teams from the ACC.

Many teams haven't played the toughest on their schedule. That's why the committee doesn't release the rankings until the 2nd half of the season.

Similar things were said about Jalen Hurts. Wasn't he referred to as "Mr. Clutch"?

As far as counting out Alabama, it's hard to say. So far they've beaten a team, Arkansas St., who plays in a conference of mediocrity where half of the teams had a losing record and perennial powerhouse Louisville who was finished to pick 5th in their division which can barely be considered much above the level of mediocrity of the Sun Belt.

Only time will tell.

Yes, Hurts is a very good QB. But he is far easier to defend than Tua.

No it would not as winning non-conference games (i.e. over all record) would be the first tie breaker if there is a tie in the division and make head to head games the second tie breaker, as they do in the NFL.

If that was how the division tie breaking rules worked last year then Alabama would have won the SEC West division.

If you apply all the subjective arguments against conference champs only and apply those same argruments to deciding who goes to the playoffs in the NFL you quickly see how lame those arguments are. I have no problem with expanding the the playoff to 8 teams with with automatic bids to the power 5 conference champs and 3 wild cards as long as the wild cards are selected by objective criteria and not by any subjective selection process or committee where the team is selected based on opinion.

Agreed...that's why the media loud mouths hyping teams is so obnoxious. We're only 3 games into the season. There is no humanly possible way to determine who the top four teams are now let alone the top conferences/divisions.

A perfect example is FSU. Pre-season poll had them in the top 20. They are now 1-2, having struggle to beat Samford and lost to Syracuse & VAtech.

A quick look at Alabama's schedule doesn't show any real challenges until about 2/3 through the season. It's not hard to maintain a ranking when you don't play anyone with a real chance of beating you.

Hurts was the next big thing. All that talk during his freshman year only to be tossed aside.

The only potential competition Alabama will face will be this Saturday with Texas A&M. After that, it's perennial powerhouse Louisiana, then Arkansas who got their asses kicked by North Texas, then Missouri who despite being 3-0 has played another perennial powerhouse in UT Martin, Wyoming who barely beat IAA Wofford, and 0-3 Purdue. Tennessee, while 2-1, lost to WVU, the only real competition they had. It will be game 9 before they play LSU. By that time, LSU will have played Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi State. Who knows whether they'll be considered worthy competition.

I'm a little bored with Alabama.

It would be different if they actually played a competitive team before the rankings came out. It's easy to hold a spot when who you're playing is more like spring practice than a real game.

Let's take a look at Clemson, too. They were beaten by Texas AM except on the scoreboard and, in the end, that's what matters. However, looking at their schedule, they may not play a top 25 team all season being that AM was not ranked at the time they played.

Look at all these top teams,OSU starts every season playing a couple of tomato cans, running up the score!
NCAA needs to change things

I'm far from an OSU fan but they did beat a ranked TCU. That's more than can be said for Alabama and Clemson. Georgia did play South Carolina, 24 at the time, a team that isn't as good as that ranking and who probably won't be back in the top 25 this year.

I live in Ohio, not to far from Columbus,it's bigtime OSU country around here.
But I still have trouble being a fan, because growing up,that asshole Woody Hayes wouldn't pass the fucking ball!
