In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed homosexuality from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), leading to the normalization and public acceptance of homosexuality.


Now, psychiatric professionals and activists are following the same path for pedophilia.

Odd that a group that wants to push for more biblical values and "traditional" family values would push to normalize pedophiles. Do you suppose this is the same branch of Christians who think you should be able to marry 9 year old girls?

The article has no facts behind it and it was written by the CWA along with another bible institute.

What I think is this is just more propaganda based on lies in where the APA is NOT trying to normalize pedophiles but which by the way it is presented appears this CWA may be pushing for it.

You misread the title. Concerned women or the cwa were discussing others who are supposedly pushing for normalization of pedophiles.

It's not really about that though. Big Dummy and the CWA are trying to use this to attack homosexuals.

And yet, there are no OTHERS pushing for it. There's not even valid references to this article. So therefore, the APA isn't pushing for this "normalization" unless someone can post from the APA position on this.

The source is a propaganda piece.
 
An urge to victimize children is a mental disorder, it needs to stay where it is. The difference is the victimization of others and the failure to understand that reality. There is a true disconnect from reality present.

Show me an article where the APA demonstrates they are doing this. Otherwise, no. This is an article filled with lies from the CWA who is pushing false accusations to push their biblical agenda onto our government and a woman's right to choose.

Are there any articles out there which are credible and or does the APA website assert this?

It is propaganda, it is not the CWA that is pushing for normalization. They are claiming that B4U Act is pushing for it. But b4u act is just a group that is trying to promote good treatment practices for those sexually attracted to minors. As there name indicates they are attempting to prevent people from victimizing children.

I don't give a shit what the APA states anyway. It's not illegal because it is a mental disorder. It's illegal because it victimizes children.

Groups like NAMBLA have the belief, and publish that belief, that the child really "wants" it and there is no victim. That is where there is a disconnect from reality. This is like a rapist saying that women "really want it", that just means the rapist has a mental disorder not a sign that women want to be their victims. They have a failure of empathy, a capacity for which exists in those who do not suffer the same mental disorder.

Any group that would try to "normalize" a behavior that produces victims has this same disconnect from reality.

Nope. The DSM differentiates between those who desire children and those who act on those desires.

The new manual specifies that in order for an atypical sexual behavior to be classified as a mental condition, a person must:

1. Feel personal distress about their interest, not merely distress resulting from society's disapproval; or 2. have a sexual desire or behavior that involves another person's psychological distress, injury, or death, or a desire for sexual behaviors involving unwilling persons or persons unable to give legal consent.

It's important to note that the actual diagnostic criteria for pedophilia have not changed since the last version of the DSM, but what was once known as pedophilia is now called "pedophilia disorder," the APA pointed out in an emailed statement to The Huffington Post.
