I dunno, but I personally knew a guy who ran his teleprompter and he said Regan was an idiot. But still an actor who could read lines ;)
 
But the official Republican line was that he got altzheimers after leaving office. Another lie I expect.

Wow. I know several people that talk of his incredible intelligence and charisma. Including many members of the press who weren't exactly Republicans...
 
Oh he had the charisma, but that was an acting thing, he bumbled badly with out a script. Very charismatic to meet, could smile and say nice things, but....
 
Actually Damo, I think his altzheimers became apparent during his second term.
Remember him saying he would resign if his health became an issue. Well with Altzheimers........

Yeah, you couldn't take away his script, and expect him to talk coherently at length, like a Carter, a Clinton, a Gore, a McCain, or even a Gingrich.

But, he could charm the pants off people.

Honestly I have no evidence of his "non-intelligence"... other than those who want him to look badly.

I do however have people speaking of their experiences meeting with the man and expressing his incredible intelligence along with that famed charisma, including people who were not Republican "lapdogs" or even Republican at all.

Reagan was more intelligent than Bush junior. IMO
