I also doubt Obama will want the voters reminded how much money he's spent in the last four years......because if he needs another ceiling lift it will be over a trillion more than Bush spent in eight.....

the never lets hypocrisy stop them, in case you did not notice, the reps in congress voted for the measure sans funding so the cost of the entire bill is added to the deficit

......reducing taxes is hardly a demonstration of hypocrisy on the part of the GOP......on the part of Dems perhaps......

the entire bill is unfunded, so its cost will add to the deficit, hence if the reps make a stink about raising the debt limit they will be in the wrong

however, you are partly correct in that it will point out that congress has failed to contain the budget deficit

I think everyone knows we aren't going to get out of this mess without the deficit increasing for a while......the difference is that Republicans think it should be done by reducing what we give the federal government to spend and the Democrats want to take more and spend more........

he hasn't......he's proposed new taxes and spending that is higher than last year.......that's not a spending cut, that's a lie......last year he spent $3.72trillion......this year, after claiming to have trimmed $400billion plus from the defense budget and $400 billion plus from the domestic budget, he's proposed spending $3.8trillion.....feel free to explain to me how he's "cut" spending......

i disagree, without the spending cuts, there would be a bigger deficit or higher taxes

well there you have it.....I actually did a better job.........I wanted to spend $20 trillion but I kept the budget to $5trillion.....thus, I cut spending even more than Obama did......(this is why we can't have nice things).......

sometimes all that can be done is slow it down

i think that cutting waste is more of an art than a science since it involves politics

a good example is trying to close redundant or unnecessary military bases

another is trying to reduce redundant or overblown bureaucracies

still some government is necessary and the need for some parts increases as the population and/or economy expands

last but not least, helping people caught up in the latest economic downturn
