Congressional Budget Office: Obama stimulus harmful over long haul

What really sucks here is that for once webway raises a critically serious point about something (the stimulus doing more harm than good), but because his rep is so bad, people are just going to blow it off. Just the message here and not the messenger.

Sure, but cherrypicked his own points in his rebuttal.
Anyways, it remains that overall the nonpartisan CBO considers the stimulus doing more harm than good in the long run.

What did I cherry pick? It's a simple cost-benefit analysis of short term versus long term goals. In my (and any sane reasonable person's) analysis, the substantial short-term benefits outweigh the very modest projected long-term costs.

The message is stupid. We're talking about a projected .1% decrease in GDP ten years from now. If we were talking about something more immediate and more than de minimis I could see the argument, but things being what they are there is no argument.

That's a hopeless mischaracterization. They do not make any sort of qualification that the bad outweighs the good. This shows what a hack you are.

They said we'd have a small dip in GDP, potentially, in 2019, but that millions of jobs would be created in the meantime. They didn't say "that small dip 10 years from now really makes the millions of jobs not worth it."
