Conservatives Outraged!

I'm kinda pissed myself and I'm not even a conservative. I sat through 12 Years a Slave and I definitely found myself wondering "Where are the happy slaves?". Not to mention all the meals they got for free. Funny how the film leaves all that out.

It's just like Hollywood isn't it? They don't want you to know about the slaves who were all like, damn this is the best gig ever.

I think Tom wrote this article btw:

"If ever in slavery's 250-year history in North America there were a kind master or a contented slave, as in the nature of things there must have been, here and there, we may be sure that Mr McQueen does not want us to hear about it. This, in turn, surely means that his view of the history of the American South is as partial and one-sided as that of the hated Gone With the Wind."

Where is the singing, the family unity, the joy of being cared for by benevolent masters, the depiction of how they were rescued from Africa by the rescue ships...

Good point!

Same with the merry people in the concentration camps with their classical orchestras and free gas!

yeah Nova.... cuz we all know that the "whipping post" is just a fictional creation of Hollywood and the Allman Brothers.

Wheres the 'outrage' ?
It seems to be just like every movie ever produced as far as portraying real life.....

Are you have trouble with reading comprehension again, fool ?

WTF did you think I said in my post that caused that idiotic response....?

This movie is Hollywood's attempt to show real life...

My links show the real thing, didn't you like them or what ?

links weren't there when I answered you, liar. you edited the post to include them ten minutes after my post.

what a total wog douchebag you are.

Fact is, I was looking up and added the second link 10 min. after your post...

besides, my original post stands, though I should have said almost every movie, rather than every movie...

Is an attempt to portray real slave life...I can't imagine any sane person thinking is a barrel of fun to be a slave no matter what color their skin.

Conservatives outraged? Isn't that redundant Darla? Have you ever met a conservative that was sorta peeved or mildly aggravated or kind of annoyed? No! By God they're mad as hell and aren't going to take it any more!

My family came from Delaware and until I was in my 20's or so there was a whipping post in the town hall 's front yard. My dad recalled seeing it used. Point being they were not unique to the south.

do you really think that Sally Hemmings WANTED to fuck Tom Jefferson?

Heres an interesting semi-bio of Sally.....http://tinyurl.com/q7mpbhg

and footnotes from Jefferson's letters and other sources were used to gather these facts, or claims, whatever your biases demand.

If even partially true, this would seem to conflict, at least a little, with the movie we were discussing....That won't go over big with narrow-minded preconceived notions
on either side of the fence.....

the big difference being, of course, that when WHITE folks in Delaware got whipped at the post, when they cut them down, they were NOT the property of some other white guy. See the ever so subtle north-south difference there?

Odd mm didn't apologize to me for that lie that somehow I said that the "whipping post" is just a fictional creation of Hollywood .....that boy just can't man up and admit
EVER making a mistake or telling a lie....but then, thats quite typical of ALL liberals on this board....
