One of the interesting little items in the CPI was the 10% increase in car prices from a year ago.

It seems that the price of cars has gone up dramatically because a year ago car rental companies sold off a lot of their rental cars as demand shrank. Now they don't have enough cars in stock to meet the increased demand so are desperately trying to buy vehicles including paying more for used vehicles than what they cost new.

And interesting that USED cars went up 21%. Hadn't thought about that rental car thing, those are considered used. I found out firsthand about rental cars this last weekend. Hertz sucks.

We have been spending the last 15 years desperately trying to get inflation higher, so it would be a good thing to have the highest inflation in over a decade. If Biden is doing a good job, it should be around 4% to make up for 15 years of well under 2%. We actually had deflation, which is deadly.

Get back to us when it starts hitting 6%. Reagan was overjoyed with 6%, but that starts getting high for recent history.
