How do you think you'll look when COVID-19 surpasses H1N1? Are you really so self-deluded you believe that won't happen even though the WH is now on board that this is a National Health Emergency and calling out the US Navy hospital ships for support? Was that necessary with H1N1? Of course not.
This is a serious disease, but ~80% of the population will barely have sniffles. ~20% will feel like shit for a week or two and an unfortunate ~1% will die. Deaths will primarily be those who already have severe health issues or 70+ years old. If you are not in those categories, relax. Don't worry about this.

China is the example of the effectiveness of drastic measures. As soon as they realized the old 'deny, lie and distract approach' was not going to work, they took drastic measures very quickly. That had a good outcome.
Italy is the example of the tragedy of the old 'deny, lie and distract approach.' Eventually you have to take drastic measures anyway, and if you waited too late (like we did) they are not as effective.
The hope for us is that we are somewhere in between and that we finally took drastic measures still early enough to have a good effect.
The problem with this disease is that by the time people start dropping dead in mass numbers, you wish you had taken stronger measures a month back.
If you wait, it will be too late.
Sort of like climate change.
